Two guys clinging to a smoldering wreck in the ocean are somehow a threat to folks up in aircraft.

So his deer in the headlights look isn't just Resting Clueless Face. He actually is standing there, feeling like a schoolboy who didn't do his homework being afraid he'll be called on to answer a question.

Don't forget pharmaceuticals. But they can't really talk about what they do, so they show folks running marathons and having block parties while they play some shitty cover of an oldie remembered by the people old enough to need said meds.

Dear Donnie Smallhands,

The fact that you're calling it a "cognitive test" means you didn't ace it. Or, you know... just lying. More than likely a bit of both.

I was gonna say it all jumped the shark when people started believing their god wanted a pastor to have a jet but... let's be real. There's a long history of, "God says go kill those people the next country over cuz, you know, they suck."

"Back in my day"... a person could just play with designs just to explore possibilities without having to condemn the original works. Must be the whole waffle thing.

"Hey look... I tried out triangle waffles!"
"Why do you hate round waffles?"

You know, when my grandmother began to succumb to dementia she would get sun hats and clip photos from magazines, laminate them, and put them on her hats. It didn't seem to be any specific reminder, just... her thing. His hats remind me of this, only with the malignant narcissism thrown in.

And when you make a person like that feel doubt about their faith, they get mean, vindictive, and often even violent. Sometimes, Christian violence seems to stem from the faithful trying to stamp out those who don't share that view because the faithful are threatened by the idea that someone can

So this girl at OU may have figured if she wrote with enough religious conviction then god would have her back. But then that didn't happen and now she's not only upset because she got a bad grade but it's also solid proof that her faith didn't see her through with flying colors - inspiring doubt.

to god. If she passed a test, it was god's will. If she failed, it was because god was testing her. It wasn't because she studied well or didn't study. It was as if she had no agency in her own life (good indoctrination there on the church's part).

Her butthurt over this may also sting because moments like this for these folks put their faith on very shaky ground. And when they are made to question their faith they get angry and vindictive because they are scared.

I had a fellow grad student who was very religious and attributed everything

It's like if I contracted a crew to design and build a restaurant and they built a church instead then asked, "Why do you hate religion?" when I pointed out that wasn't what I asked them to build.

on gender through her religious lens.

The right will whip folks up in arms about this when the fact that she espoused religious views isn't even relevant. She could have been stating opinions she got from anywhere and still failed because she didn't actually do what was asked in the rubric.

I wasn't able to read all of it, given the paywall for the Oklahoman and not being a subber to Twitter, but from what I pieced together the fundamental problem is she didn't do the assignment. The parts I saw weren't her actually responding to the article but her just monologuing about her thoughts
