#bbclaurak BBC suggesting this morning that Kuenssberg would "grill" the chancellor, so I suppose just coddling Kemi at least keeps a breakfast cooking analogy.

Watching on delay but FFS, apparently the govt is not allowed to raise tax to spend on their priorities - with kuenssberg disingenuously suggesting that the £4b surplus was a lottery win and spending must therefore just stand still. Her hatred for the less well off is palpable.

Why are people suddenly pearl clutching over income tax thresholds?

Where have you been for the last 4.5yrs?

The freeze has been in place since Apr 2021, when Chancellor Sunak froze them from 2021 to Mar 2026!

Then Chancellor Hunt froze them further in Autumn 2022 to Mar 2028!

As usual the media insists that the manifesto cannot be breached by any i dot or t cross, whilst never mentioning the last govt went through 3 PMs and wildly fluctuating policies between 2019-24.
Compromise to get legislation through parliament is just democracy in action.

#bbcnews Chris Mason being the shit he always is.. I'm not always aligned with Luke Tryl, but the polling that the 2 child benefit cap is "popular" is flaky when people are actually asked about the impact of child poverty. The media just wants us to be a less kind society

If the Government repeals the 2 child cap, not only is it an argument that they can win, but it's one that aligns with why people vote Labour. Headline support/oppose polling can obscure the ability to win an argument on this. My piece for @trusselluk.bsky.social www.trussell.org.uk/news-and-res...

Kemi defending the poor folks whose house is only worth a mere few million. And the whiny impersonation is foul.

Kemi is just laughably predictable. The answer is cruelty to the needy in her view, and given Faisal quoted the inflation reduction from the OBR forecast earlier, I think she definitely hasn't read it.

#politicslive Simon Clarke is just such an odious oik, squirming and twisting when it's pointed out the sugar tax was a Tory thing. Don't remember him talking it down when the Tories were in power

Good for this Helen contributor, breaking this myth of peaceful "legitimate concerns" Vs the reality of the vicious far right using the hotels as an excuse for racist demonisation is really important.

So the BBC is trying to fix the view that it is biased to the left by these resignations? What the actual.. ? Any attempt to put in a replacement that is centrist never mind even slightly left of centre will be harangued to death. Let's hope for a sensible choice, but not holding breath.

#bbcnews Chris Mason gloating re the inc in accidental releases under labour without the fact in official data that it is related to the large release of prisoners to free space which released some in error who were recaptured

Chris Mason opines.. well, accidental prisoner release has been happening for some time, but it didn't matter before as it wasn't a problem for labour, so I've decided to say that the justice dept is as bad as SMALL BOATS.. so the hard of thinking will join with my outrage...
