"At least if you’re a fan of a certain age. If you are, like me, someone who never grew out of Doctor Who, because it was taken away before I had the chance."

God, this explains so much. Never thought of it like that before, thank you.

Thanks Rich! I hope so too... at present it feels like schools (particularly primary level) are totally unprepared for AI.

Listened to all six episodes on a long drive with the kids yesterday – we all thoroughly enjoyed it! Your (mini) review was spot on. Very 80s fantasy – if not very 80s Who (although feel 80s Who could have very successfully leaned in this direction).

I will add our kids (10/12) just watched and enjoyed all 7 episodes of Ambassadors of Death, so maybe I’m being unfair.

I would have too, but I’m fully aware I was a weird kid. Our kids are weird too, but I think they’d both find this too static and dark. My platonic version of Who is horror films for kids, which is such a hard balance. Think RTD used to get it just right, most of the time.

I will add that it was meant to be self-deprecating and guilt-ridden (written after a semi in which I felt I could have subbed more equitably), but seems to have been read as an argument for ruthlessness. Kids sport – so fraught!

Oh, now I’m tempted. BF has been so hit and miss lately I wasn’t sure I could commit funds to two box sets for one story.

Thanks Shaun! Fantastic to hear. Was thinking about Kilbey and co just this week…

I watched this again a couple of weeks ago. Always think it’s too soon to revisit, always wrong. With each passing year, this and Zygons gain a bit more stature over pretty much all of the rest of Classic Who.

Surely we can get a podcast out of this, at least?

Moon Stallion is on YouTube – the kids watched it a few years back. Think it was released as part of that short lived BBC VOD service?
