Hi, my name is Murray, and I'll be posting here on a heap of varied things... but mostly tech. I've been an IT professional since the mid 90s, but an absolute technology tragic before then: Since the age of about 8 when I was staying up all night coding Basic games on a Commodore 64...
Okay, time for stupid dev questions. First, does Azure DevOps really require a paid subscription, and/or approval (by application and days waiting) for a single limited license, for parallel job access in order to ex cute CI/CD pipeline actions? Tell me that ain't so?

I've asked this before, but didn't find any answers, so here we go again: When using Tags to define Dynamic Scopes in @azure.microsoft.com Update Manager, why is it that new Arc-enabled servers that I add end up in ALL the Maintenance Configurations as added Resources? I only want tagged ones.
May 12, 2025 at 2:44 AM
Ugh! I somehow forgot about this.
1. Windows Hello for Business Cloud Kerberos Trust is awesome, yay!
2. But Cloud Kerberos Trust configurations don't support Dual Enrollment for admins to use, you must use Certificate Trust instead.
3. Certificate trust requires AD FS.
4. Crying.

Alrighty, let's get this figured out: So in Azure Update Manager, if I define three update Maintenance configurations, and these use Dynamic Scopes based on Tags, then all servers will have ALL tags appear under "Associated Schedules" and will be evaluated at runtime?

This can't be the way.
1. Visit Entra and get MFA prompt
2. Select the passkey option to get a QR code
3. Grab phone, authenticate
4. Open Authenticator, authenticate
5. Tap button to begin scanning QR code
6. Tap OK on useless message
7. Tap account, authenticate
8. Page loads
Eeeesh!

I find this attitude so incredibly frustrating. So, because you don't like the politics and antics of one person on a company leadership team, you want to see a good company and its 125,000+ employees ruined... all to try and send that one guy a "message"? That's awful. Find another way to protest.
If you’re a rich liberal who hates Elon Musk but still drive a Tesla: what are you doing? You can afford to sell at a loss and get another car. Take a fucking stand here, no matter how much you like the car.
TSLA market cap down another $70B this morning.

This "passwordless" journey has a complete disaster so far. After years of being blocked from Windows Hello for Business in K-12 EDU because students have no MFA methods for setup (no phones), Temporary Access Passes (TAPs) looked like the answer... until Surface firmware appear to have nuked it...

I have to be missing something regarding this Entra Cloud Sync (Provisioning Agent) timeout error when trying to test the synchronisation of Entra groups back to AD. Right now, the "Provision on Demand" (Test Provisioning) fails in about 60 seconds for any group, even newly created with no users...
March 5, 2025 at 5:43 AM
Hey @jeftek.com, are you still available to talk about Entra Sync, and specifically Group Writeback/Provisioning to AD? I've had a support ticket open for 3+ months now, and it is going absolutely nowhere... with the "technical advisor" even suggesting this functionality doesn't exist, LOL.

Completed my first 72-arrow 20m scored club shoot with my new recurve bow. That's not only a lot more arrows than I've shot before, but also the first score with my own gear (over 10 pounds heavier draw than the club bow). Got tired/sloppy by the end, but very happy with a 600.

Kinda brutal, actually: Just married and spent all my savings; Got laid off from my job the day after, despite telling me I was critical and wouldn't be laid off 2 weeks earlier; Forced to move city to find work; People I thought were friends turned out to be dicks; Struggled to get by week to week.
what was 23 like for yall ?

"Say goodbye to charger chaos: 'USB-C Everything' law goes into force"

And just like that, half of all phones got downgraded to an inferior cable that breaks more often. I'm no Apple fan, but having used many devices and ports, I can honestly say USB-C was the most unreliable.

"Microsoft increases 365 prices by adding Copilot in select regions"

Yep, I'm in one of the regions (Australia) and I am not happy about this. It's not a small increase, and it's for something I don't & won't use. Almost makes me wish our ACCC would do an EU & force Copilot out.

"Microsoft warns that Android 15 will make Windows Phone Link worse"

Is that even possible? Phone Link has been so unreliable, slow, and buggy - not to mention constantly forgets it's connection and makes you set it up again - that I no longer use it. YMMV, but yikes!

Oh. I just had my rifle club tag me. Apparently I won 3rd place in the smallbore (22LR) 50m Benchrest Club Championship and I have a trophy to pick up. I missed the presentation night because I got delayed at work. That's super cool, and I had no idea I was even close.

I don't live it when an impactful, well-tested policy applies and works... then all of a sudden doesn't. Last year, all our new devices rolled out with the Intune Endpoint Security BitLocker config and it was successful, but nothing since has worked...

Seems impersonation is a thing on this platform now, yay. Not me (that I know of), because I'm a nobody. But seeing more reports of this is concerning. And I also can't help but think this is something AI can actually be useful for: Find similar names, handles, bios, photos, and flag for review?

Phew! Today was a windy one! And yes, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it, haha. The constant 26km/h (16mph) crosswind, with gusts even higher, was pretty rough... especially for a beginner (like I am). The final end was pretty nice, though! I can't wait to get my own bow and arrows.

It's super frustrating that the sysprep issue still exists for when Microsoft Store apps are uninstalled, updated, etc. It's bad enough that Microsoft pre-loads all this bloat, but causing an image capture failure if anything even thinks about touching the APPX package? Eesh!

Any peeps here that know the Azure OpenAI service enough to help? We're trying to build a school chatbot (don't ask), and despite applying for the maximum TPM for GPT-4, are constantly hitting rate limit errors after only about 30 concurrent conversations (which seems super low).

Interesting that, after recent post on tuning/pruning features & services, I received some pushback. Do SOE/Deployment people really not spend time disabling unneeded "stuff" in the OS, i.e. security baselines and CIS benchmarks?

The Nikko Stirling Hornet ED 10-50x60 is an absolute unit of an optic. So glad I found one. Yes, it bumps me into the higher class due to magnification (if I go above the 16x setting), but I can actually see the X ring now... without wearing glasses... and that's just awesome!
