Mass spectrometry, metabolomics, lipidomics. Wannabe cyclist. Views are my own and not my employer’s.
Enjoyed the STL Festival of Nations (since 1934!) this afternoon. Packed with people enjoying a global mix of food, music, and art with their neighbors from every corner of the world.
A joyful rebuttal to the fanatics and swindlers who would tear this all apart to enrich themselves.

It never ceases to entertain me how often a good “turn it off and turn it back on again” works. From programmable coffee machines to million-dollar mass spectrometers.

If you see this, quote with a robot that isn't from Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who or Transformers.

Careful, that’s one of the early iterations of the Cybermen. They start with cardboard and evolve to utilize more resilient materials.

Sen. Hawley thinks the tariffs aren't high enough!

I hope Missouri voters know their Senator wants to tax the goods they purchase every day to the tune of 100%!

The S&P has lost 10% of its value in the last month.
If this had happened under Biden the Republican congress would have impeached him with the media cheering them on.

Nice turnout in Brentwood, Mo
Lots of honks for the signs!
St. Louis doesn’t want Trump or Musk, rejecting this societal attack

These people are so painfully ridiculous.

"Approve" is stretching it CBS.
CBS buries the real story in its poll, They should not that more voters strongly DIS-approve than approve (38% to 31%), that his policies will worsen their economic situation and make the world less safe.

A paper I missed last year that describes a really novel way to add confidence to compound IDs.

Generating IR spectra via DFT from compounds IDd using Mass Spec and comparing the predicted spectra to experimental IR spectra libraries.

Spending a little time getting more familiar with Sirius. Looking to see how we can use it to get at some of those pesky unknown peaks (e.g. nearly all of them sometimes...)!

Here are Alex and Blue enjoying the sun. I found them like this, with Blue holding Lex’s head like that. They weren’t wrestling or anything, just chilling.

It’s so very nice when the chromatograms overlap almost perfectly on your LCMS runs.

There are some resources online for simulated IR spectra. One I found was www.cheminfo.org/Spectra/IR/E...

You can draw/select a structure and it generates the spectra. You could screenshot them and save them in a set of PowerPoint slides. You’d be able to select the ones most useful for you.
