I’m happy that my spinning has gotten consistent enough that I can knit at a fairly uniform gauge with my chain plied #handspun.

I do miss being in a good choir this time of year. I got to perform Handel’s Messiah in its entirety with the Duke Chapel Choir for a couple of years, and wow that was really something.

I do not actually have any Christmas cheer. I just don’t want to pass up an excuse to surround myself with purple sparkly things.

Please spread this idea. Feel free to copy and paste (no attribution necessary) if you prefer. And if you have a local organization that helps with housing for LGBTQ+ persons, comment and I’ll repost.
This year, every time I see a Salvation Army bell ringer, I plan to donate money to help house a person or persons that they would have turned away.

This could be the year I finally crochet a stellated dodecahedron tree topper. Wonder what the chances are that I can find the sparkly lavender crochet cotton I bought ages ago.

It's been so long since I put up this Christmas tree that I've forgotten how.

It's perfectly normal to have over 20 different jars of pepper and pepper blends, I don't know what you're talking about.

Gus pokes his head out of his burrow. He wants to be warm but he also doesn't want to miss anything.

RIP, my Italian flat leaf parsley. You persisted despite the shade from overcrowded tomatoes. You survived multiple frosts and an early snowfall. Even after a hard freeze and light snow, several green leaves protruded as if waving for help. You were the Betty White of herbs.

I hear there are people who just... lie down at night and go to sleep, what's THAT about

I did spend some money over the weekend, but all of it was on kitchen items I'd already been planning to buy when they went on sale. I bought a couple of pans to fill specific needs, a replacement waffle maker, and some organizing bins for the kitchen drawers. $0 spent at amazon or Target.

Arrived at the doc to discover the office had moved. New location was nearby, but parking was much harder. Office was much busier than in the past. After waiting 7-8 minutes to be checked in, they started to tell me I would have to reschedule because I was 16 minutes late instead of 15.

It's dark and 19 degrees Fahrenheit outside and I have to drive half an hour and get 30 injections in my head, so it must be Monday.

@profanity.accountant , am I meeting my target of a 1:1 swears:posts ratio?

We did a little experiment last night. Most of the gingersnaps baked for 10 minutes. One of these quarter sheet pans baked for 11 minutes and the other for 12 minutes. Result: om nom nom (varying degrees of chewy, but we like them all).

These gingersnaps disappear almost as fast as they come out of the oven.

The bit Jesus left out of the story of the prodigal son was that the responsible elder son didn't give his parents any grandchildren and the younger son did.

Well swell. There's a Flock camera now between my house and everywhere else. It's not impossible to avoid it, but it's a long way around.

Apologies for the repost, but I should have hashtagged this thread about mole poblano. Day 1 was washing, drying, and stemming and seeding the dried chilies. #foodsky
Mole poblano, Day 2. We fry the chilies in small batches. We save the chili-infused canola oil at the end. The first time we made mole, we used an ordinary sauté pan, but the electric skillet is so much easier.

I am bummed that we will not have stuffingwaffles this year because our waffle maker died.

I have 1600 yards of hand spun Blue Faced Leicester that I really want to do something with, but I’m having trouble committing. If I made a shawl warp from it, what color weft should I use? Or there are a hundred and one ways to knit or crochet it into a shawl. I wish I’d bought twice as much fiber.
