10) Final thoughts

I’m so thankful - for my cc partner, my friends, my family, the weather, the food, the music, the great photographers, the helpers, the testing staff…

I’m also so thankful for all the wishes. It gave me strength & I’m grateful if I can give you some hope in return💞

9) Conclusion

It is absolutely possible to have a cc wedding but the planning is much more complicated compared to a “normal“ one.

And when the priest got sick 2 days before, I actually panicked. The cc person who then did the ceremony instead was send from heaven - I’m sure!

8) Costs

We managed to have a low budget wedding & were just very modest & humble. Every guest brought some food & even the costs for the PlusLife tests stayed moderate.

Music was handmade (soooooo much great music) & later I was my own wedding DJ.

It was worth every penny!

7) Location

We had the location just for ourselves. And we prepared each room with a big or smaller air filter. The windows were opened constantly & there was plenty of fresh air.

Fortunately the weather was great, so most of the wedding was outside.

6.1) Help

Every guest got 2 duties - I tried to give everyone a fitting thing like “buffet” or “dancing queen/king”, “socialising” etc. - they loved it & it worked amazingly well.

Without all the help - esp. from the cc community - it just wouldn’t have been possible.

6) Help

I did the majority of the planning myself but for the wedding itself I had so much support & help. I actually wasn’t involved in any duties on that day & I also came after the testing to not stress out too much. I was very anxious how many people were positive or not.

5) Guests

Around 1/3 were cc; 2/3 were not. I wrote a detailed invitation & explained the testing situation so everyone knew what to expect. Sick people were not allowed to attend.

Some of the cc guests stayed masked & it was accepted by everyone. Lots of love in the air.

4) Masking

Before entering the building every guest got a FFP2 mask (earloop or headstrap) & all were masked until the testing was ready.

Only exception was being outside (huge park) with distance around yourself you were allowed to drink (important for older/disabled guests)

3) Positive result

One guest turned out to be positive so the 3 people in the pool were tested again singularly.
Unfortunately he didn’t behave in a good way & it was good to have the deescalation person. He finally left but as he’s the best friend of my partner it’s just bad.

2.2) Testing

We had some very old guests who got more attention & care as well as some more reluctant guests. I had a deescalation person who stepped in when so didn’t want to test etc. - fortunately not needed during the testing but afterwards (s. next)

2.1) Testing

We had 12 PlusLife machines & tested around 70 people.

We did pool testing with 3 & every guest had to swab2x; so a retest would be easier.

Swabbing was outside. Guests who arrived later had to call & were also tested (to not endanger the tested population).

2) Testing

A person from my local cc group who does cc events with prior testing offered me their help. So I had a test center situation.
3 did the testing & 5 people did the explaining, controlled the correct swabs & handed out different coloured bracelets (💛=testing/💚=neg)

1) Planning

We planned this day for more than one year & planning was very exhausting. It was completely handmade to ensure it to be as Covid Safe as possible (no service people, no other people around). Furthermore the building had to be accessible (also toilets etc.).

How to marry - #covidcautious style

Was it easy? Definitely not!
Was it worth it? Definitely yes!

I try to address some important things in this threat(d).

Most important tools: PlusLife testing (testing in nearly PCR-accuracy) & much help from my (local) cc community💞

It still is f*cking hard & exhausting. I also lost many people along the way & yes I do wish everything would be like 2019.

But! - my life is absolutely full & I’m not sure if it would be like that without this deadly #Covid plague. Never thought I would write sth like this 😳 2/2

Someone very close to me said “You know? Covid doesn’t exclude you from the world. It draws you even more into it.”

He’s right. Since being #covidcautious I met so many interesting humans, made a lot of new friends, hosted virtual dance parties, participated in activism 💞 1/2
