More cover work today! Nearly 8 hours into this and there's a looong way to go.

The background pattern is directly inspired by the Commonwealth window in Halifax Minster. The human whose body air sprite Brise "adopts" lived in Halifax prior to her death so I wanted to hint at that.

I did it! After a giant writing day(5.5k today) I hit 70k total AND finished the draft of my autumnal gothic historical fantasy!

Logline: Infatuated with a miller's daughter, a fire sprite possesses a con-woman in the pursuit of being perceived.

Release: September 2026 or 2027

I'm not finished drafting my gothic historical fantasy about a fire sprite who possesses a lady burglar to charm a miller's daughter but I'm already gathering cover inspiration. It's been a while since I last saw blue skies at dawn and today the sunrise made this old oak tree look aflame!

How was everyone's month? Mine was pretty grim but thanks to 2 books sold direct on my site, it wasn't my worst month and that's really all I hope for.

I've made a start on a new cover! The Turbulent Appearance of Brise Collier isn't releasing for another year but I can only draw for short periods atm as my hands start hurting pretty quickly so I've made an early start 😅

She lifted her head from an awkward angle and rubbed the crust of her eyes with her free hand. The leftovers of crying until she had no tears left lingered. Her left hand still clenched Da’s. Both their fingers were cold, but a certain stiffness had settled in his when she slipped free her hand. She couldn’t bring herself to look at his face. Not yet. So instead, she twisted on the chair and stared at the black bird pulling a flailing moth from the corner of the window. For a moment, the crow stared back. Then, with a scratchy caw, it flapped away into the eerie dawn light which spoke of a rain shower that had passed in the night and a wan promise of scattered sunlight.

It's too cold for my cosmos so I pulled it inside as it has a *lot* of flower bulbs yet. Barry doesn't agree with having such a big plant inside 🙈
