I'm fascinated by how involved Jared Polis was in the state's story — not just as an elected official, but as one of the millionaires who funded Colorado's blue shift.

I went to Denver in late April for a retreat held by Progressive Policy Institute, the same group that helped ferry Clinton to the presidency in 92.

They think Colorado's combo of libertarian ideals, progressive programs and pocketbook-focused governance could be used as a national blueprint.

Another key to the project's success, especially as a project in a blue state, is bipartisan support. Development company NorthPoint is based in Missouri, and has support among Rs – most importantly with House Transportation Committee Chair Sam Graves.
