“Talking” is cheap and does not actually require anything, but it’s enough to make investors feel like something is on the horizon. That is all that is needed.

I’m not finished yet, still have a ways to go, but I am immensely enjoying it so far. It is absolutely a story worth taking your time on, and soaking in every nook and cranny of the path being taken

That feels very apt for this book. There’s a confidence to it, a sense that the narrator is relishing in slowly leading the audience along this journey and pointing out all the details along the way, making sure that they get everything possible out of it

It makes me think of Treebeard from Lord of the Rings, when he says “it takes a long time to say anything in Old Entish. And we never say anything unless it is worth taking a long time to say.”

Even the pages of the book itself, the edges are rough and uneven, making it feel like something compiled

It feels like a story shared over a campfire where it’s assumed the listener already knows the end, so the enjoyment comes from all the little additions and the way it’s told. A story that’s been passed down numerous times so everyone has a slightly different version that needs to be accounted for

That happens here too, it’s just more subtle. The prose is presented in a rambling manner with tangents and spontaneous focus on superfluous characters and details. There is just as much of a winding path being followed as House of Leaves, it is just all contained with the words themselves
