Every worker deserves a good job, one that pays a living wage and includes robust benefits. NELP is leading the fight to make a good-jobs economy a reality.
Rebecca brings deep expertise in workers’ rights, racial equity, and the good-jobs economy—NYC couldn’t ask for a stronger voice at the table as this new administration takes shape.
Honored to see her leadership recognized. ✊🏽🗽

Every worker, regardless of their immigration status, should be able to live and work with dignity and respect.

And anyone who is out of work should have access to unemployment insurance to sustain themselves while they find a new job. #FixUI

The unemployment rate for Black workers in September was 7.5%, nearly twice the rate for white workers (3.8%). The unemployment rate was 5.5% for Latinx workers and 4.4% for Asian workers. Continuing disparities in unemployment rates are a result of structural racism in the labor market.

A recent study from @epi.org finds that if the administration accomplishes its aim of deporting 4 million people over four years, the result will be 2.6 million fewer employed U.S.-born workers in addition to 3.3 million fewer employed immigrants. www.epi.org/publication/...
Trump’s deportation agenda will destroy millions of jobs: Both immigrants and U.S.-born workers would suffer job losses, particularly in construction and child care
Deportations will eliminate millions of jobs held by immigrant and U.S.-born workers according to research on increased immigration enforcement.

1.6 million immigrant workers have left the U.S. labor force in the last six months, a direct result of the #TrumpAdministration’s policies of mass arrests, detention, and deportation.

These policies devastate immigrant families and communities.
But the economic harm is far more widespread.

Unemployment benefits are all the more critical for jobless workers as other public supports—including food subsidies, heating assistance, and health coverage—face cuts.

Unemployment benefits are administered by states so are less affected by the shutdown. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/27/u...
