Vroom, vroom! The FINAL CHAPTER of Race to the Bottom is now available on AO3.

This is the chapter my editor has called "ABSOLUTE CINEMA" and "P E A K," and "maybe my fave smut story I've ever read" multiple times over.

I also think it's my best work and it feels SO GOOD to finish: bit.ly/3V84S85
Race to the Bottom Chapter 3: Final Lap

Kit and Vanessa participate in their first race for their new owner, forever sealing their celebrity status in the eyes of a very particular clientele...

Exhibitionism
Loss Fetish
Mind Break

This may seem like hyperbole to the casual observer, but you really always are, Ruby.

And it's these kind of truths that keep me writing every day. 😊

I have decided that basically nothing is hotter than a girl being brainwashed into thinking an inanimate object is her "real" spouse.

Anyway, I am *absolutely finishing this draft tonight*.

All of your demerits between this upcoming session and the previous one have been recorded and logged, my love. You're already well past "ego death."

OHHH, THIS CAME OUT SO WELL, *MARI*! I still really adore the way the light and colors play off them both and blend into one another. Makes the whole thing so dynamic.

Ezra's hips go absolutely INSANE in this picture. I literally just can't stop looking at them, lmao

Maybe they still do ferrofluid bondage after the mind control. Probably not because Achillea is an awkward lesbian, but there's always hope!

I wonder what other shapes Achillea could make with her newfound power? 🤔

Continuously getting into my head about writing for a presumed audience, hating every second of it, then remembering I'm just doing this *for me*.

Once I start writing to my own sick specifications again for no other reason than it makes me happy, everything goes much smoother.

Waking up at 4 a.m., possessed by the spirit of my own horny brain, remembering "Oh, right. I'm insane!" as I start to make this story SO much worse... ☺️

I truly hit a massive brick wall as a writer whenever a character has to walk 10 feet from one spot to another.

It's a very interesting game to me, personally, but I'm a weird little pervert historian for middling, experimental stuff from the 62-bit era onwards. I don't think it's probably worth playing for most people!

Still don't have a working title for it, but I do know Chapter 1 is going to be called "Bound in Gold." Which I quite like. Should just have the big climax and the "resolution" to work on now.

This was supposed to be a tiny little one-off I did before moving on to bigger collabs...

I have never been simultaneously so unsure about, and completely enamored with, a single story I've written.

This is either going to be a bunch of bland nothing or my favorite thing I've ever done. I don't even know what genre it is anymore. Anyway, I'm up to 8,000 words (after cutting 1,500 more).

Today's lancer doodles!

Ezra gets ferrofluid bondaged and has to contend with the implications of not being able to be brainwashed...
Grumpy boy* bondaged up with glowing eyes and a very curvy figure Angsty looking boy holding a scourge saying "I'd like to know what it's like to dream."

The expressions in both images are sooooo, so good, darling~! It was super fun to see Ezra get so ANGRY for once in the story. Nice and scary.

Oohhhh, some of my favorite art of yours and an extremely lovely pic~ You look great, *Mari*!

I just think it's neat when you can draw a very direct line between art and the labor that is absolutely, unequivocally necessary (and sensible) for producing it.

Especially in the large studio/label model, which tries so desperately to obfuscate that labor across basically every industry.

That's ALSO cool because things like the haunted school from Ghostwire - entirely unique gameplay with memorable, self-contained stories - isn't something you can do quickly at scale, but it's the OBVIOUS next step for Open-World Soup. It's what everyone wants (in those games) except publishers, lol

Wonder if we'll get a ton of Ghostwire: Tokyo-likes in 10 years...

I guess we already see bigger studios like Ubisoft arriving backward into that, as they hunt for increasingly novel #Content to shove into existing open-world frameworks. Even Ghostwire is kinda just trying to make Witcher 3 quests.

Reminds me of that Caldwell-Gervais note about how Quake wound up as a sort of "dead end," (until boomer shooters came around) but Strife, the forgotten FPS from the studio that made an even more forgotten Quake EXPANSION, actually saw the way the winds would eventually blow with CoD and Half-Life.

The last bit is the most interesting to me. Ghostwire was a big, experimental open-world game with transmedia tie-ins.

It was clearly meant to be A Brand, but didn't really pop. I've now seen the entire branch leading to that point before it stopped: an entire evolutionary dead end in game design.

Finished The Evil Within 2 last night, which is extremely interesting.

Not very scary and genuinely unpleasant to play at times, but with tons of potent nightmare imagery and logic that sticks with you (that they don't do enough with). Was clearly seeding a lot of ideas for Ghostwire: Tokyo, too.

I thought that's what the gag was for.

Hoping to finish the first draft of my next story this weekend!

Beta readers are already calling this one "unbearably cruel" and "I don't think I can read all of this," so I think the first chapter is having the desired effect at least.
