The same folks won't think twice about carrying around a cell phone everywhere with multiple tracking apps, Ring cameras on every door, "smart" home devices that listen all day, etc. 🤦

The coolest and most fun thing I've seen at a RRFM was a guy who brought a bucket full of old skateboard trucks and wheels, and an assortment of random wood planks, & did a demo teaching kids how to make junk skateboards

I'm sure this one experience is not the whole picture, but after the trauma of the last so-called "decentralized movement" I was a part of, I'm thankful for the IWW hope infusion

There are other groups that *say* they are organizing for mass working class movement, but do not include a disability justice lens. Which, if you know anything about the two, is 🤯🤦

Disabled, unemployed, and/or homemaking people are welcomed to join the IWW. The dues are low & they have a sliding scale.

And unlike other groups, I didn't have to plead, educate, detail my story, or be singled out in order to have my access need met.

I can't say enough good things about the quality of the training & how inclusive @portlandiww.bsky.social is!

Even just the fact that they required masks made it safer for me to attend.

I'll think on it!

Thanks for being open and taking my comment in good faith ❤️

Genuine question - have you all ever thought about rebranding to be more inclusive?

I ask because I like your overall mission, but as a disability justice advocate, the saneist/ableist name and wording are really off putting.

Almost every day the fascist stories are accompanied with stories about record anxiety and stress and uncertainty and loneliness and hardly anyone wants to connect the obvious dots.

Fascism is a collective breakdown. People are struggling and there has to be relief.

That same group is using the existence of an Accessibility Committee (that disabled people created out of necessity because of systematic exclusion) to prove they care about disability justice. 😵‍💫

I happen to have wasted months with a national group that allows ableism and chaos to fester to the point that the entire Accessibility Committee quit. We were also the unrecognized backbone of most of the other important projects.
