GPs charging patients to confirm basic medical information is disgusting behaviour. They are the sole source of this information.

Can you imagine if their university tutors charged them to provide references for job applications.

A2 it can be very challenging for teaching and scholarship focused staff to be represented due to lack of funding streams. Out and out research staff often forget that we were researchers before we because scholars in a lot of cases #LTHEchat

A1 it depends what you want to define research as. If PedR and SoTL then I have a research career along side being a teaching focused academic. If you want to define research as senior management seem to, then I’m not part of a research community at my institution at all #LTHEchat

A6 #LTHEChat YES! the definition of a CoP (according to Wenger-Trayner^2) is a community to has a shared goal, has social interaction, and learns/develops together. It doesn't have to have an impact, it should be allowed to exist for the sake of its participants.

A6 I don’t think that the CoP really needs to demonstrate impact per se. If people keep coming back they clearly see a benefit and they find their own impact. Of course if having to justify funding then that’s a different matter #LTHEchat

A4 no abstraction, run by the community for the community so people put themselves forward to present, no institutional firewalls for want of better description. Make it as simple as possible for people to engage. And enable captions at meetings!! #LTHEchat
