often times, i feel a breakup is too visceral and final in other AUs. comics have such vast continuities (everyone's always getting together and breaking up over and over again, no one stays dead etc) that it allowed for an easing of that usual tension.

Honestly the best and only tip I can give people who want to get others to care about their OCs is to be ten times as insane about them themselves. That's it. You gotta care. Gotta make them and write them with love and feral drive that's a little scary sometimes. The passion will inspire others.

style and vision is good. the fear and anxiety of "if i don't continuously draw the same things that got me clout to begin with, i'll lose out on sponsored deals" is not good. the ability for varied expression is the most fundamental parts of being an artist, and that's often not brand-friendly.

sometimes the advice of "carve out a specific niche to become a successful content creator" just means becoming predictable and safe enough for brands to make you their commercial mouthpiece
