My mom still gives me, my wife, my children, my brothers, their family, etc. one of these trick or treat sacks every year curated with our favorite candies. Here are some vintage ones I have. I will have to dig out the lunch sack size bags my mom gives me for a photo. My grandma used to do it also.

The coolest thing I got trick or treating was mini comic books called Marvel Treats in 1987 and 1988. 87 had Captain America, Spider-Man, Carebears, and Heathcliff. 88 had Spider-Man, X-Men, Alf, and Flintstones Kids. All reprints of existing books. We went back several times to get them all.

I always went for candy in plastic containers that I could keep. Toys, rings, rubber creepy crawlies, kazoos, fangs, wax candy, monster chews, monster cigarettes, finger puppets, whistles, kaleidoscope, etc. Anything Halloween orange and black. Then my favorite candies.
