Black kites!
I love watching them soar. I’m so obsessed.

Had my panel yesterday at the Manorama Hortus Lit Fest in Cochi, India. “The Center Shifts: Authorship, Power, and Africanfuturist Worlds” with
Sneha lype.

There were several students doing dissertations on my work! And I have a lot of readers here! It was a full house! Omg, I’m so honored, 🥹!!

Interview day at Onmanorama Radio in Kerala, India 📻📰, after being interviewed earlier by their newspaper team.

A moment where I had to stop and take in where I was. As a person who prefers quiet and dislikes urban spaces, I fought this spot surprisingly charming (so much color!).

I highly recommend this author and novel (one is the North American cover, the other is the UK cover). It’s fantastic, excellent read, 🤖🐬🦿🇳🇬🇺🇸.

Before I flew out to Kerala, my sister jokingly told me that if I saw a wedding there, I should crash it and get in on the enjoyment. I rolled my eyes and said, “Why would I see a wedding?”

Why is there a wedding happening outside right now? 🤣

Here you go, lol:

The little guy will be fine. I took it outside and let it go as everyone stared at me like I was crazy.

FYI-I’m in Kerala, India. Many photos to come.

I just caught a tiny gecko in my hotel room and escorted outside. Heh, I usually leave them alone when they come inside because they eat bugs and spiders, but in this hotel, it was going to die. Nothing to eat.

Caught it under a glass but not before it let go of its tail to try and distract me! 😁

“Remember, remember, the 5th of November.”

Lol, even in India.

Proud that my novel DEATH OF THE AUTHOR is one of them, 🤖🐬🦿🇳🇬🇺🇸.

People say things like this and either they don’t understand or care that there are naturally skinny women out there. Just as nasty as in the 90s with heavier women.

When you get to be in power, don’t be an asshole like those you overcame to get to that position.

Ijs.

I’m in Qatar.

Heh, from one desert (Phoenix, AZ) to another on the other side of the planet. 😊🏜️🐪

Saw this kettle of black vultures from my hotel room in Miami.

They always look like they’re on some important business, even when they’re just riding air and vibing. They have CEO energy for no reason.

“We are majestic. We are organized. We are…looking for a dumpster.”

Those dogs did NOT approve of that robot dog, 🤭. #MiamiBookFair

I met Edwidge Danticat today, 😃🫠🥹!! Omg, her work has moved me for nearly 3 decades (starting with Krik Krak!). I don’t typically fan-girl over anyone, but today, I definitely did. Heeheeheeeeee!

Also, I was told that Queen Latifah loves my work and has been trying to meet me! 💃🏿

💃🏿And another one…

The New York Public Library has named my novel DEATH OF THE AUTHOR a Best Book of the Year. 😃.

Just arrived in Miami, FL for the Miami Book Fair. First bird I saw was a Muscovy duck! There were three standing in green around the highway ramp goes around.

I was like, “ooooh, who is that!”, then I googled. They’re common here and look like this:

Earlier today, I was notified that someone was at my door.

This is who it was:

The desert never looked so green. It’s all thanks to the recent rains. Won’t last, but it’s nice for now (except for the mosquitoes…but they’ll increase the gecko and bat population, so still a win).
November 20, 2025 at 10:34 PM
…And now my novel has landed on BookPage’s Best Fiction of the Year list. Ha! Look at her flying. ✨

Saw this male vermillion flycatcher yesterday while on my walk, 😍. I’ve seen a few but never at rest.

If you immediately know who this is without looking it up, we've got some things in common, lol.
