It was a great way to stretch meat to feed a family at breakfast, much like meatloaf at dinner. And Grandma being Italian she was also accustomed to using qui cornmeal, which she always said was just polenta under an American name.

My grandmother used to make scrapple. She said it was common fare during the Depression.

My grandmother had an actual butter churn. We used to sing as we churned, learned to know by feel when the butter had gathered. When we took the butter out she put it on a pair of paddles that we pressed/ squeezed to remove the buttermilk (for pancakes). I always thought it was such great fun!

I had a lovely little parakeet once, named Bird Brain. His original owner died and I took him in. He would sing his heart out in the mornings, no matter if his cage was still covered! There were quail living in the field behind our house and he learned to speak quail! Miss that little booger.

Put the tree up yesterday and decorated and then encased the entire tree and a giant clear plastic bag to keep it safe from marauding cats. I'll take the plastic off on Christmas Eve, LOL. Meanwhile I can see the pretty ornaments and lights but they can't climb it.

Good morning Spencer. Wow we really are ways deep in the Big Muddy these days. Only it's not just one big full saying to go on, it's a chunk of the country.

The Jane Austen book Club is a fantastic movie. I usually watch it in sequence at the end of rewatching all my Jane Austen movies.

Excellent choice, Linda. Do you remember Trump's sickening statement that AIDS was his personal Vietnam?!
