I am reading this bill line by line, and it appears that this is designed to only affect trans people in the ban, while leaving politicians' illicit T shots open as well as intersex genital mutilation and other procedures that focus on only the assigned sex.
Tucked inside the Republican bill for health care subsidies, a clause that would restrict the money from being used for abortion (with exception for rape, incest or life of the mother) or for "any sex trait modification procedure or service."

When you view the world as a doomed pit of endless misery, you're not seeing beyond the veil, you're catching ricochets off the inside of your own skull as you try to shoot yourself in the head from the inside out.

It's stupid and needlessly self-destructive. Stop it.

To be fair, the British accent is of a more modern vintage and the modern American accent is believed to be closer to the British accent at the time the colonies were flourishing.

How Americans preserved British English
Americans today pronounce some words more like Shakespeare than Brits do… but it’s in 18th-Century England where they’d really feel at home.

I love that they've got him wearing a t-shirt like he's a tech-bro founder, when one of the single best established things about George Washington was that he was fussy about propriety and proper appearances. He'd have worn a suit.

Let me try, and I won't turn off replies, and you can quote-post me if you like. Claire Lehman was and is a bad actor. She and the whole Quillette gang used "heterodox" as a way to make it sound sexy that they believed black people are genetically destined to be less intelligent than white people.
Update: actual Peak Bluesky has been achieved, the author has done a HELEN, ANSWER FOR YOUR CRIMES quote-tweet and then not allowed me to answer for my crimes by turning off replies.

I mean, yes, going to bat for Clare Lehmann isn't actually that laudable, Helen. The technocapitalists are awful: but do you think that the intellectual climate wasn't primed for this nonsense?

Straight up admitting that a Democratic President will be ruled against if s/he attempts to use this power in exactly the same way.

This is honestly a good one to study for the difference between what journalists say and what was actually said.

I appreciate the “women, children and individuals of shorter stature“ and “priced fairly“ parts.

I never understand the “voters are blameless and it’s impossible for anything to be their fault” idea.

“Democracy” literally means “people power.” The entire idea is that the people get to collectively make choices. And they can make bad ones.

With great power comes great responsibility, folks.

Gavin Newsom is kicking me out of the Democratic Party for being autistic.
California Governor Gavin Newsom said on Thursday that the Democratic Party needed to be “more culturally normal” and “less judgmental.”

One of the problems with our capitalist overlords these days is they don't care about making money and profit as much as they should.
I mean that mostly sincerely: If they cared more about money than status or authority, we'd be much better off in most respects.
The thing I've never understood about cracking down on adults' access to ADHD medication is the fact that stimulants make people more productive whether they actually have ADHD or not. Shouldn't our capitalist overlords want exactly that?
then, the transphobes , feeling victorious at how many people they have made unhappy and despairing in the previous week, move on to anything else that has a spectrum and the possibility of more colours than they can conceive - such hateful people - they cannot understand anything that is not THEM

On Aug 24, 1869, Ohio Rep. John Bingham, principal framer of the 14th amendment, gave a remarkable speech on “Equal Rights-Impartial Suffrage,” in which he said of those who sought to reject the principal of birthright citizenship, “no greater political atrocity than this can possibly be committed.”

If the Court arbitrarily strikes down this key part of the fourteenth amendment, I think Americans lose any moral obligation to show any allegiance to the laws enforced by a fundamentally lawless regime
Birthright citizenship is probably not integral to liberal democracy, but it is integral to *American* liberal democracy. Our vision of what we are as a country, as a nation beyond an ethnicity, requires it.
