I saw in this article that waybackmachine cannot archive Instagram, and the deletion of Saleh al-Jafarawi's account by meta after being killed seems (unsurprisingly) insane

i understand, the joke was sort of unclear. the joke was really mostly about that it was a tongue twister, and neither ts nor cf was fulling meeting our needs, in different ways

hi @erisa.uk -- there is a part of the website about this on the landing page (gateway.commoninternet.net/info#alterna...)
it was my understanding that tailscale funnel also supports tls-passthrough, but that they do not currently support having your own domain that is not a subdomain of ts.net

we hadn't talked about it yet, but seems like a natural cousin

this was a somewhat silly way of sharing the landing page for a new small collective that offers a tls-passthrough gateway server as a service, to help homeservers publish to the internet
(been working on this with a small group for a few months and just sharing it now)

The ideal the solution is infallible mods, trained from birth to always make the correct decision. The only advantage of decentralization is that it's easier to implement than that.

In the next 5 business days you should be able to go to Link's page on blacksky.community and see his posts and he'll be able to post but people using the bsky mobile apps won't see it.
After that we'll get Blacksky-only posts up.
After that we can talk about purging bsky mod tools

but imo a case like you pointed to with Link is a good test case, to see if the protocol can actually live up to its claims at all

I think only time will tell if atproto ecosystem actually achieves ISP-style-decentralization, if thats technically-and-economically possible,
but the fact that it could be possible is why im still interested. and i do think there are things, like the internet itself, that take time to mature

and ISP-internet is actually the internet vast vast majority of people use. so at least so far, ISP-style-internet has been more resilient as a system than mesh networks, in a sense

mesh network enthusiasts want the internet and ISPs to be even more decentralized, which I think is cool,
but if social media were as decentralized as the internet itself,
I think that would be a huge improvement on current walled gardens, even if its not full mesh-network-level decentralization
