Thanks for the re-ups yesterday. Had a spare seat next to me but enjoyed the refocused Cabaret, had time to drop in on some old friends at National Gallery too:

Last night, it felt like a fitting tribute to go to Nottingham’s top AmDram spot The Lace Market Theatre, one of whose patrons was Prunella Scales, to see a production of (her daughter-out-law) Laura Wade’s Home, I’m Darling.

Such fun at #internationalagathachristiefestival even though I missed Laura Thompson (her fault for being so eclectic!) @christietime.bsky.social @isokongallery.bsky.social @jcberthal.com here’s my best (tired) Ariadne Oliver complete with apple

By coincidence, I am staying at a small hotel in Torquay. They have the book of Flay Otters scripts out in view at check-in. Up the road at the L_____ Hotel, the 70s lives on and the waiters look like a superannuated Manuel.

Appear to have found Fawlty Towers alive and thriving in Torquay @christietime.bsky.social #agathachristiefestival

I'm going to #Torquay soon with a pal who's keen to go to the Agatha Christie Festival... should be a good wheeze. We have lots of plans but if you have any top tips for reasonably priced food & drink, decent cafes, indie shops etc please share. Thank you

When I bewailed the lack of local bookshops, I forgot small-but-mighty Bookwise. Someone had donated a plethora of Anthony Powells, which I resisted, but I caved in at the “feminist literature” shelf. + borrowed Jolliffe Metcalfe’s rare opus Substitute (I’m currently researching her for her niece)

It’s true! A mate of mine parked precariously at Big Tesco and got left this under her wiper blade (now pride of place on her fridge) (they bought kitchen roll- admire the commitment tbh)

Usually I’d be at the mercy of the charity shop gods (as there are no decent 2nd hand bookshops left around here) but I cracked and scored a job-lot on eBay @backlisted.bsky.social what have you started! Yes I am upset they changed the design #partoftheproblem #elizabethtaylor #notthatone #vmc

No, YOU just went on a Vinted binge to make a costume for an event you can’t attend but decided to dress up for anyway…

If any publication would like a write-up of the Radiohead artwork show by someone who has been a fan since before Stanley started to work on the art, who isn’t the Guardian’s very bitter-seeming guest art critic, who might actually appreciate what’s going on … I’m available. *sigh*

The local Coop charity shelf always throws up some random treasure. Apparently Kops was inspiration for Mannie Katz in Absolute Beginners cc @iammilliam.bsky.social #NoViragoModernClassicLeftBehind #AlwaysBuyTheGreenOnes

Clearing out an old shed and found the basis of my “classical” education (Thanks to Tony Robinson, I had a bare minimum of Greek myths for later use in Art History classes)

Some scenes from Duncan Grant’s 1950s mural in St Blaise (Patron of Wool Workers) Chapel at Lincoln Cathedral, that I visited today. Great contrast to the Gothic / Romanesque grandeur of the building. It was closed off until 1990 but now looks fabulous.

Me and Bowie both…Barras ceiling star presented by the great Tom Joyes (who features in @peteralanross’s latest #SmallFinds ) after I’d stood on the stage & been a Doors Open Day tour guide at The Barrowland. The Glasgow place I miss the most.
