Mars was the Roman god of war.
That’s why we say ‘martial arts,' ‘martial law,' and 'court martial.'

Marshall was the Roman god of designer fashion at discount prices.
That’s why we have Marshall’s.

I find it particularly *galling* that Biden went out of his way to put projects in red rural areas (as an attempted bulwark against GOP defunding, which obvs didn't work, and because Dems CARE about putting economic dev where it's most needed) and yet the GOP can get away with hurting blue states.
Russell Vought's sadistic threat to kill projects in blue states will blow back on GOP. One getting defunded is reportedly a huge hydrogen project in the northwest that would also serve Montana. Its GOP governor has hailed it as a big job creator. Oops.

GOPer Quietly Admits Trump Cuts to Blue States Will Hurt MAGA Voters
Trump and his lieutenants are taking sadistic glee in slashing projects in blue states. Guess they’ve forgotten that their supporters live in them, too.

I’m starting to notice a trend in the polling data…

—Top Public Worry: Corruption

—Biggest problem in Fed Gov: Corruption

—Top fear: Corruption

—What one word would you use to describe American government?: “Corrupt”

It’s almost like voters are trying to tell us something.

Donald Trump wants to lend $20 billion of our money to bail out a political ally and his global investors before an election.

Oh, and Argentina just struck a major deal with China that crushes American soybean farmers already suffering from Trump's tariffs.

Judging by the shamefully opportunistic & politicizing rhetoric of some rightwingers on Twitter, & their cynical use of Charlie Kirk’s horrific murder for political point scoring, it’s almost as if Minnesota Rep. Melissa Hortman wasn’t murdered by a Trump-voting MAGA maniac just 12 weeks ago.

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive.

No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief.

I hasten to add that Biden and the Democrats were restoring manufacturing and doing it in terms of the 21st century not the last century, and arguments about why Trump is wrong should take that into account.
This is fascinating: On the pod, @kedseconomist.com cites the example of a US manufacturer of board games to explain what's wrong with Trump's tariffs and why unleashing so much pain and turmoil to restore manufacturing is an incoherent goal.
