Great Yarmouth is set to host the biggest neo-nazi music festival in over a decade. The Home Office has the power to block entry of overseas bands, which will scupper the promoters plans. But they won’t act unless we demand it. Email the Home Office now: hopenothate.org.uk/2025/08/28/g...

I felt really disheartened and uneasy this morning after seeing the flag so close to my house. Posts like this, and shows of solidarity, fill me with hope. Thank you to Hannah and the team for your invaluable work.

A brilliant blog with practical suggestions for school leaders on how to start the conversation about flags with students. This should be for primary & secondary. This morning on the school run, I saw a flag. If my four year old can ask a question about it, she deserves an answer.

If I were trying to win elections and arguments, I simply would be doing everything I could to move UK political conversation away from a website run by an avowed enemy who believes and writes this stuff about me:

In his own voice, Elon Musk is fully committed to a replacement conspiracy theory as his main lens on UK politics.

I don’t know what’s next but I hope the end of the summer holidays marks an end to this. I also hope schools address this as discussion is needed not dangerous silence.

I’ve felt powerless but today took a small action which has felt deeply cleansing. Facebook is deleted and with that the racist and dangerous comments from some people who live in the village my girls are growing up in.

But it is hard especially when I feel unsafe and especially want my girls to be safe.

It’s the second summer in a row where my now four year old has asked questions based on the social and political landscape. Last summer, “Why are there so many police officers?” and today “Why are there so many flags?” I have answered them in a balanced and age-appropriate way.

More and more flags have been appearing near to where I live and Agard’s poem ‘Flag’ has come to mind more than once.

Bradford Literature Festival weekend 1- done! From shadows puppets, crafting & cosy crime to the powerful Ghost Empire Mauritius & Chagos film. It’s been a busy but brilliant weekend & a great introduction to all things literary, magical, cultural and political for my girls. Roll on next weekend!

This www.nfer.ac.uk/media/gneoqx... is essential reading for anyone leading on ITT. If the DfE don’t act on the recommendations, providers must consider where they can enact change.

1. A few years ago, people like me were widely attacked in the media for “declinism”. How could we fail to see that we were heading into a capitalist utopia, in which everything would keep getting better?
This is a thread about what we could see that our critics could not. 🧵
