You and me both. The moment I saw Google Calendar not opening with an account, I was done with a capital D.
Been using as much FOSS/inide apps and toolkits as I can since. Really feels like an anvil has been lifted from my back.
Helps that my workflow didn't rely much on "the man" to begin with.

I thought the consensus was a tie between SNES and GBA, but I'd say the PS1 version is also a solid bet. I'd prefer if it had the ATLUS West terminology, but it's no slouch.
If anything, I feel like SMT1 really feels right at home with PS1 with how much of a weird urban fantasy game it is.

SNES is the "vanilla" version.
The GBA translation is actually a back port of the official iOS release of the game they did in 2013.
PS1 has a new translation from scratch but is otherwise quite vanilla.
Ditto for VX, but with a new ending.
That's all I know; I'm (slowly) going through the SNES ver.

Don't worry, the train will topple over as soon as it makes contact with you, and you won't get a scratch.
And before you say that would violate the laws of physics; you never studied law, remember?

Happy birthday to a very special birthday yote!

There's something so heartwarming about the fact that what I liked as a kid is being rediscovered in current times and getting shared around/discussed.
I don't know why, it just makes me really happy and even a little emotional...

As for the tablet... It's Android, so that comes with Goggleplex's brand of bullshit like marking YouTube Kids as a "system app". Thank Christ Shizuku/Canta work as advertised, because I'm done with being "Mr. Nice Yeen".
Debloat or go home.

Again, the biggest hurdle is the package management; compiling is one thing, config file editing is another. Looking past those gave me the feeling of power and freedom that not even Arch could give me. Guess I know which distro to go with if I start dual booting again!

To date, I remain the only member of this friend group whose Vocaloid phase lasted shorter than a week.
Somebody please help me, Luna has been keeping me captive and forcing me to listen to Tetoris for the past 72 hours.

So yeah, consider me excited. Also, I was lying about the snark thing, these things (maybe with the exception of the controller) all look fucking awesome. Steam Machine especially; it's a literal GabeCube and looks like a NeXTCUBE. If I get one, I'm SO 3D printing a placard with the NeXT logo on it.
November 13, 2025 at 9:16 AM
The Steam Machine? I'm all over that. Sure, a smol living room PC running Linux could be done by just about anybody, but with VALVe's backing, it'll probably end up becoming a better Ouya than the Ouya did. Not to mention, FUCKING BLINKENLIGHTS in the year of our Lord 2025?! Sign me the FUCK up!
November 13, 2025 at 9:10 AM
The controller I can't say much about since it's a bit more pedestrian compared to the other two items, but I can't say I'm the biggest fan of how it looks. I get it, Steam is the domain of KB+M, but there HAD to be a classier way of handling these touchpads. Maybe it feels better than it looks?
November 13, 2025 at 9:06 AM
Snark about how the hardware looks aside, the potential of these things is hard to put into words. A VR headset running on ARM Linux capable of running x86 VR games is not just "insane", it's THREE layers of separation from the Wintel ecosystem. This should be IMPOSSIBLE, and NOW it apparently is?!
