I find it highly likely that the US government may be making some kind of possibly similar requests, but @bsky.app has never implemented a warrant canary, so it's impossible to tell whether it's a National Security Letter, chilling effect, board decision, or fascist sympathy.

Do emails that notify the account owner of suspension currently mention which specific post triggered the suspension? (Because if not, they really should…)

Maybe Kendzior's suspension was entirely a bug/mistake. But when we also have targeted bans for users that criticize Bluesky leadership and make Charlie Kirk jokes, we have good reason to suspect that it wasn't a mistake. No transparency means we have no way of knowing.

Maybe not literally correct, but there's still no justification for suspending Sarah Kendzior for no reason whatsoever and not responding at all to calls to undo her suspension. What recourse have we when there's no accountability or transparency from a "public benefit" corporation?

In a few ways, Bluesky moderation is more authoritarian than Xitter: see: Charlie Kirk jokes, posts that mock the leadership of the site, Palestinians begging not to starve.

Xitter is most fascistic when it comes to their algorithm and tolerance for hatred.

You have it wrong. They are trying to push decentralization now because they are increasingly under pressure from the government, and think that decentralization can be a safeguard from government demands. Until then, they are trying to appease them.

Not a confirmed fact, just an allegation from Voltaire. Newton may have been gay having had close correspondence with a few men along with lavish gift giving.

Lack of accountability leaves us to guess whether it's a National Security Letter, cryptocurrency investors on the board with alt-right ties, or the CEO's Californian Ideology rotting into sympathy for fascists.
Making social media a platform cooperative or public infrastructure may offer solutions.

This will work to bypass the appview when the account is on a separate PDS. But AFAIK, she was on Bluesky Social's PDS that they control.

I had to click "see more" to see your comment. Seems they are sensitive to criticism.

Sarah’s THEY KNEW is literally about how the pervasive lack of transparency and accountability in governance makes conspiracy theories thrive and destroys civic trust. Feels a little on the nose.

Why does "it seems there's a crackdown" come across as paranoid to you in this age?
November 11, 2025 at 2:58 PM
Good chance it's the latter. The current regime hates the existence of a platform they can't control, so it's likely they are pressuring @bsky.app to ban their critics. We never had a warrant canary here so it's hard to know.
November 11, 2025 at 2:44 PM
Might be the government pressing its thumb on Bluesky leadership, possibly through a national security letter. We cannot know as Bluesky Social never set up a warrant canary.

When I started a hardcore permadeath run a few years ago, one of the primary missions was stopped by generating the objective under an indestructible volcano. They had since fixed it.

Mamdani brings out voters like no other, yet party leadership seems unconvinced that Mamdani is the future of the party.

That makes sense, haven't paid much attention to what Chuy's been up to since his mayoral run, his district changing shape, and since we got Delia in office.

Other than his mayoral run as a moderate, what's your beef with Chuy?
