yeah the biggest games out there right now are weird predatory social spaces that are trying to hook you into spending as much money as possible while being one of the few places to hang out with your friends when you can't drive and trying to walk or bike means you'll be hit by a ford f150

He also then immediately turned around & licensed it out to be turned into a Christian game. Also just sayin'.

tl;dr i think its cool and good to reward the player in the long run for making good choices but it shouldnt happen often enough to create an expectation of a reward for doing good things. the player should do good things because theyre good.

yeah but i also dont want to encourage a type of reasoning where the player games the system by assuming every good choice is bound to have a better result in the long run even if the game doesnt tell him that. also not everyone you meet is nice, most people are shades of gray.

there are other possible reasons than greed ofc. like for example your character may be unfairly prejudiced against someone, leading them to not want to act ethically towards them, but i have yet to find a compelling way to represent that through mechanics unfortunately.

sometimes yeah. but the point is that the choice shouldnt be "be evil for no reason or be good for no reason" or "choose the reward you like best", because thats not how ethical choices work. if someone does something unethical its usually because itd get them smth that they wouldnt get otherwise.

ive always been of the mind that the most true to life version of ethical choices in games is to make the bad choices give you a big immediate reward while making it so (or making the player believe that) the good choices give you no reward whatsoever

Though this one in particular is funny cause I don't think ever said anything like "Sinksong shouldn't accessibility features or even just an easy mode" like w/e they could do that. So this is like what, 2 damage is ableist?? Adds are ableist?? Like what a weird line

this is the sort of thing that goes hand in hand with "accessibility" options that completely forget to engage with disabilities players might have. color blindness, photosensitivity, deafness or auditory processing issues, etc. these aren't the same as "not exploring the tools a game gives you"

When you throw terms around like that at any inconvenience, all you do is dilute them and do a disservice to people who need accessibility. You're basically taking their need, and associating it with crybabies, which *they absolutely are not*.
