here are some recolored giadromes
1. hd recolor with better gradients
2. old recolor with splotchy beak
3. hd tex
4. original texture
for me number 1 is loads more cohesive than number 2 and would be a surprising sight in a playthrough

my working fix is to define colors by their core 'hue 30 is orange and 60 is yellow', swap the cores, then for pixels between 30 and 60 we replace them with a new gradient between the replacement colors (yellow and magenta). An easing function helps too

this is my problem with the old color randomizer code. We do a hue shift that basically says 'red should be magenta and green should be red' but for anything with a gradient these squareish artifacts show up

My #Zettelkasten is coming along. I have 12 permanent notes! The right side is the main section of permanent notes ✏️, media notes 👁️, books/articles 📕. The left side are fleeting notes ✈️ that will be deleted, and projects/project notes 🔧 that are more mutable. #GameDev #ProcGen #Steam topics mostly

a mere splash of simplex noise and the decoration placement looks SO MUCH BETTER than the 35% random scattering from before and I haven't even layered in using noise to clump similar decos (I WANT A PATCH OF MUSHROOMS) #GameDev #IndieDev #GodotEngine #Fliplike

the prestige mechanic is complete sans juice. if you can hit the 50% flip, you can get coins for the prestige shop I'm implementing next. It's like a mini unfair flips just to keep playing knock-off unfair flips #GameDev #IndieDev #Fliplike #GodotEngine store.steampowered.com/app/4112820/...

Results were not as high as I expected based on the generally positive feedback 😞 I’ve been overlooking the sour parts of the game loop that aren’t charming. #LudumDare is a tough jam. I will persevere!

It's not much yet, but this #zettelkasten is taking shape. I've found it useful for holding onto some game jamming tips & summarizations - it takes time to stop and write more notes, but I think it will be worth it #GameDev

another ~hour to finish gameplay
- reach depth 200 for $$$
- survive on snacks
- collect coins

I really like this game. It was good practice to get something that feels good in a couple hours. After this, a good polish pass w/ art, sounds could do lots #GameDev #IndieDev #Roguelike #LudumDare

30 mins planning + a little over 1 hr dev and it feels okay for a start. Drop down the darker holes to drop farther. Eventually you take damage, eat snacks, collect coins. I will give it another hour later, I think that will be enough to have a complete loop. #GameDev #IndieDev #LudumDare
