despair not for despite 3 hours of sleep there was still progress made

"What are you doing?" Revenant whispered—hoarse, afraid.

"I think I need to go." It was a simple concession. Wylder refused to raise his head, holding her at arm's length.

Gaze drifting across his face she searched for meaning and found nothing. The evening breeze tugged at her hair and with a vice in her chest she stared, lashes blinking back tears. Her shoulders rose and fell to quick, sharp breaths until finally simple words found her in mournful empty space.

"Goodnight, Wylder. Farewell."

His arms drifted down to his sides as she closed and latched the door.

idk if this will stay where it's at in the modern au depending on the stuff i have to fill in during ch 5 but. i wanted to write something sweet.

His fingers twisted through her hair, locks draping across his hand like pretty white ribbons—a featherlight touch brushing against the nape of her neck. He placed two fingers below her chin and tilted her head up. Little glimmers of orange light flickered in his eyes like suns burning in the sky. It was a slow and precious precession as he leaned into her—she became suspended in the warmth of his lips. With a kiss all breath was stuck in her chest, her lungs a gilded cage next to her fluttering heart, failing to capture and keep it calm. As he drew away she reached for him again, fingers rustling across the front of his jacket and dancing over his shoulders. For a brief moment she forgot what it was like to be alone.

well. the slap to the face that is my cat needing an emergency room visit. really a great time.

someone left out something they shouldn't & she got ahold of it. hopefully she'll be okay after some fluids & monitoring overnight but if not we're looking at possible surgery.
