Ireland urgently needs to implement an informed consent model delivered in primary care, developed in co-production with the trans community. It’s high time that we respect trans people’s bodily autonomy and self-determination. The HSE and DOH must take action to make this happen. (3/3)

Trans people who are self-medicating need access to blood tests and hormone monitoring to keep themselves safe, without intervention. All trans people need to be given the choice to access gender-affirming hormone therapy from their primary care providers. (2/3)
nxf.ie
Trans people should have the freedom to DIY their hormone therapy, but this should not be the only choice they have. Yet the Irish trans health system funnels care through a single gender clinic, restricting access in other settings and leaving trans people without options by design. (1/3)

Today's article in @investigates.thejournal.ie should raise serious concern about conditions at the NGS. No one clinic should hold such control over an entire community. We call for the HSE to review its gender service provision and to move toward an informed consent model delivered in primary care.

A new investigation has highlighted traumatic experiences and long wait times with the National Gender Service for transgender people seeking gender-affirming healthcare.

‘It left me traumatised’: The barriers to accessing transgender healthcare in Ireland
The HSE has admitted that transgender healthcare is ‘limited’ and is ‘not meeting people’s full range of needs’.

While trans people in Ireland remain protected under the Employment Equality, Equal Status, and Gender Recognition Acts, know that we will fight to keep it that way. We will resist the anti-trans agenda taking root in our legal system. And we will continue to advocate for trans liberation — always.
nxf.ie
Make no mistake: laws like this can never erase trans people or the power we hold. We have always existed. We will continue to exist — even if our lives, our bodies, and our realities threaten the gendered system of power all too many seek to uphold.

The basis for this decision is unfounded. It will harm not just trans women, but all women. Shrinking the boundaries of who is considered a woman puts every woman at risk. Protecting trans women is protecting all women. Our struggle, and our freedom, is shared.
nxf.ie
This ruling enables the exclusion of trans women from 'single-sex' spaces, further eroding their already-precarious safety and access. Trans women, who face pervasive systemic violence and marginalisation, are being pushed further out of public life. But trans women belong — everywhere.
nxf.ie
Sex and gender are constructs shaped and enforced by the system of cisheteropatriarchy. This system punishes those who live outside its boundaries. That punishment is often disguised as 'protection' — and trans women are bearing the brunt. In no uncertain terms, trans women are women.

Today, the UK Supreme Court ruled that the terms ‘woman’ and ‘sex’ refer exclusively to 'biological sex', deciding that trans women are not legally women under the Equality Act.

To all the trans women in the UK, we want you to know that we stand in solidarity with you. 🧵

We and our partners in the 🏳️‍🌈 sector have published our #VoteWithPride Manifesto ahead of #GE24

One of our asks is for the next Govt to update incitement to hatred legislation to make it fit-for-purpose.

The safety of our communities is more important than ‘populist’ politics.

Research shows that LGBT+ voters vote in much higher numbers than average.

Nov 29 will be no different.

From hate crime/speech to many other many pressing issues facing our community, we need political leadership than is firm in its allyship
& delivering reform.

🇺🇸 LGBT+ voters overwhelmingly rejected Trump and his hate.

We express our solidarity with them and everyone else in 🇺🇸 who now fear for their rights & freedoms.

When asked, Irish people strongly opposed Trump’s election.

The Dail finally passed the much needed Hate Crime Bill last night.

The Bill isn’t perfect and the hate speech provisions must be promptly revisited & enacted. However, it will afford long overdue protections to communities targeted by hate.
