Good to hear @micheal-martin.bsky.social at #NED25 reiterate the “existential challenge of climate change”, the growing threat from storms like Eowyn, and commit to accelerate #ClimateAction, “doing more and faster”.
But we haven’t seen decisions and delivery to match that rhetoric so far.

Great to hear Minister Jerry Buttimer speak so positively about the role charities & voluntary organisations play in communities around Ireland, especially in times like Storm Eowyn, and acknowledging the sector’s calls for multi-annual funding and efficient regulation at The Wheel’s #CharitySummit.

I happened to be reading this page from @mrkocnnll.bsky.social’s Notes from an Apocalypse today and he contrasts Musk and Thiel’s politics of escape from Earth with a politics of care.
That politics of care was at the heart Pope Francis’s Laudato si', subtitled “On care for our common home”.

This from @timharford.ft.com is slightly more optimistic than Yuri Noah Harari’s article. And with a fascinating semi-aside about the “illusion of knowledge”.

This article by Yuval Noah Harare is really scary, partly because it is simply convincing.

I’m enjoying Intermezzo but this more recent piece of writing by Sally Rooney is more inspiring still.
