Unless AI gets exponentially better through self-improving software - which of course it might, & many AI people expect.
But that would be very unusual (unique?) in being an independent exponential tech that wasn’t just piggybacking on improvements in semiconductors.

Because Moore’s Law is coming to an end, Altman says what he needs is “more electrons” i.e. just brute force of “more electricity = more compute” and that doesn’t sound exponential to me.

Closely related point. Computer folk think that AI (and lots of other things) are “exponential technologies”. But has there ever been an exponential technology that wasn’t “semiconductors following Moore’s law”?

Expired: “let me double click on that”
Tired: “let me tap the touchscreen on that

He is saying he wants more electricity. He is trying to sound gnomic and mysterious, but instead is sounding like an idiot.

Chippy sauce is brown sauce thinned down with vinegar. An Edinburgh, uh, delicacy.

Ah yes. In that sense they would be over educated even if it was the National Primary School Union.

Not sure about “overeducated”.

I went to an NUS conference once about 20 years ago. While it’s also true that it was toxic, pointless and ridiculous, my overwhelming impression was how incredibly thick almost everyone involved was. Just the worst people.

The Spanish colonisation of South America was properly ISIS-like in its pillage and enslavement. I think the difference is that it was longer ago.

You could call it “infinitesimal taxation” and people would love it because they would think it was infinitesimally small.
