Courtyard view of the Spanish style Grauman Court bungalow apartments in Hollywood. Built in 1922, the thirteen-unit residential court financed by oilman Sid Grauman is located on Melrose between Alexandria and Kenmore Avenues. This complex also includes a group of seven stores on the corner of Kenmore and Melrose. At the entrance of the courtyard, there is a completely furnished doctor's apartment (in background), provided with waiting areas and medical offices located on the second level. The gardens, full of popular California shrubs, flowers and tress, were designed by Beverly Hills Nursery Company. The statue, seen in the center of the image, is insured by Mr. Grauman for $15,000 as it took first prize at the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco.

Opening day of the MTA Orange Line at the North Hollywood Metro Red Line Park and Ride, located at 5350 Lankershim Blvd. This photo shows a side view of the new Orange Line bus, also known as the Metro Liner, which is painted silver and gray with orange wording. These buses are 20 feet longer than the standard 40-foot bus. Another way they differ from the regular buses? Metro Liners have "accordion" middles, and they are also equipped with three doors for faster boarding. MTA identifies all of its Metro Rail lines by assigning each line a different color. The Orange Line was formerly named San Fernando Metro Rapidway, but the MTA Board of Directors approved the new name on January 22, 2004, and it refers to the many citrus trees that once blanketed the San Fernando Valley. Metro Liner travels between the Warner Center and North Hollywood Metro Red Line subway station in approximately 42 minutes. Photo dated: October 29, 2005.

Puente, Calif. https://tessa.lapl.org/cdm/ref/collection/photos/id/115812

View of one of the intersections in downtown La Puente. The only discernible business is the Bank of America on the far right corner. Despite La Puente's fairly recent incorporation in 1956, the community is recorded to have begun in the 1840s when European settlers arrived at the 48,000 acre Rancho La Puente. The name's history goes back to Gaspar de Portola`'s 1769 expedition, when members of the team built a bridge (Puente) over San Jose Creek, during a survey of the land for Spain. In old Spanish, Puente followed the feminine artcle La, whereas nowdays, the noun follows El, hence "La Puente" instead of El Puente.

All American Indian Week at Wrigley Field https://tessa.lapl.org/cdm/ref/collection/photos/id/136384

Two unidentified riders, a man and a woman, possibly All American Indian Week festival performers, can be seen sitting atop their horses. The All American Indian Week festival, which featured many arts and crafts demonstrations, Indian lore displays, war dance contests, a horse show and an authentic teepee village, to name a few was held at Wrigley Field located on 4th St. and Avalon Blvd. All proceeds from the show were given to various Indian social and educational programs.
