As I said in the quoted post, I don't think it's perfect, but Creatureless is well on its way back to being a cube I enjoy and bring around with me again. I feel a much better sense of its direction now. If you're still here, thanks for reading, and I hope you can learn from my mistakes! #mtgcube

If a cube isn't serving you anymore, consider whether you're trying to put too many ideas into one place. Separating out your ideas into different cubes can give the essence of a cube room to breathe and shine. It's a shame I had to learn that by falling out of love with my first cube.

The time that I became disillusioned with Creatureless was also around the time that I got really into designing Doubleton Synergy. It was fantastic to be able to take that baked-in modality idea to an extreme with Doubleton. And it was a nice break from the high MV splashy stuff in Creatureless!

One of the goals for Creatureless, from very early on, was that it would feel like a choose your own adventure; packages of synergy meant easily pivoting between different strategies, or even creating an unconventional mix of strategies to make playables.

Part of the reason I didn't want to update Creatureless was that it felt too bloated, in terms of my own goals for it and in terms of card complexity. I drafted it last summer and while my deck was quite good, it felt miserable to play. But I'd only gotten better as a designer--how did I get there?🧵

Finally updated Creatureless!! I've needed to make changes for over a year now, and I've been putting it off like crazy. I'm not sure if it's exactly where I want it, but I am excited and feel good about where it's at now. Do a p1p1 with me to celebrate :) cubecobra.com/cube/p1p1/24...

Estrids and Aether Snap are both bangers. Estrid's in particular is a sweet build around

I did tone down a bunch of the mardu aggro things, but I think you are never sad to draw clowning around in any deck that can cast it

Yeah Sublime Epiphany is probably close to at its best here. It also puts you in a lane that isn't generally super contested

And the potential of wheeling trade routes? Delicious, fantastic, perfect

I suspect I know what @gdekker.io is picking (and what Noah would be picking if he was still on bsky lol)

This post was in reaction to the same exact 57 minutes of sound lmfao. We are not the same.

Met some game designers at Wasteland and started asking myself why I make cubes instead of games. Then I came back to all of this UB discourse and felt doubly unmotivated toward Magic. But after listening to 10 minutes of LPR, I want to cube so damn bad. What are they putting in this podcast?

InfiniTokens are NOT on Amazon, so let folks interested (or people you ask for gifts) know that searching for "InfiniTokens" there will only get a lot of cheap imitators that are not the real, high quality ones. They mimic our product designs to fool people into thinking they are the original.
An Amazon advertisement that has dry erase cards with designs extremely similar to InfiniTokens dry erase cards with color borders. An Amazon advertisement that has dry erase cards with designs extremely similar to the thin in-line border of InfiniTokens dry erase cards.

That's really neat. Do you have a list brewing?

For anyone just learning about cube, we’re in the middle of a cube event renaissance! The amount of events all over the US (and world!) is constantly growing, and they are easily the most fun Magic events I’ve attended. If you’re in New England or can travel, check out Boston Cube Party next year!

I agree with most of your picks but I’d replace white with exile removal and green with daunt

IMO this is a fantastic list of cards to cut. They all feel significantly above most of the other things you could be doing and go in most decks. I’d kill your darling with chaos orb simply because of the frustration of no two people wanting to play it the same way, but I’m less fond of it generally

Does this mean we’re officially on for mystery boosties?

Hey @commandzoe.bsky.social you should come to Boston, no reason, we just wanna talk

I'm prepared to be called out for this but: flashback, storm, prowess, first strike

Honestly it sucks cause I really felt like the @vmlmtg.bsky.social was my entry point to competitive Magic. I was really enjoying playing standard competitively and that community. But I'm not about to waste my Fridays in a sweaty basement with a bunch of asshole grinders at the LGS. Oh well.
