garden mounds were going great this spring but have now been repurposed by this snapping turtle for egg laying. I need to replant the artichokes and rhubarb but I’m excited about turtle eggs!

Today the Supreme Court cleared the way for the federal government to transfer thousands of acres of national forestland including a Native American sacred site, to Resolution Copper a mining company owned by Rio Tinto and BHP. The land holds deep spiritual significance for the Western Apache tribe.

I planted Yellow Honeysuckle with the Trumpet (Scarlet) Honeysuckle before I learned that just being labeled “native” didn’t make it native to my area. it doesn’t cause harm but when I add cuttings, I am just going to do Trumpet 🎺

a heron flew over my head as the dog roommate and I scythed mugwort (I scythe, she watches) and landed on a low branch. they had come to fish from the stream but saw me and dog roommate and flew off. apologies for photo quality. come back tomorrow, friend.
