revision: fuck the dovetail. no more dovetail cuz my 3d printer is not nearly capable of the geometry required to make a threaded hole. thusly i have elected to use a single screw to mount the blasted thing and beef the area around it the fuck up so it can (theoretically) handle the self-cut thread.
