Made a couple of Earth shots for the latest PBS eons video, including the still in the thumbnail here.

Represents Greenland 2 million years ago.

There is a bigger Eons project which I was more heavily involved with, set to come out next spring, I believe.

A portrait of Cariocecus bocagei, a basal hadrosauroid ornithopod described this year by
@fbertpaleo.bsky.social et al., from the Early Cretaceous of Portugal!

The holotype was found in Setúbal, in the rocky outcrops of the Papo Seco Formation, where Iberospinus natarioi was also found!

Lesmesodon edingeri, a cat sized Hyaenodont from the #Messel Pit. We only have 4 fossils from this species, all still suckling age. Would be an early horse’s nightmare as an adult though (dissection in thread) #sciart (done in 2021)

Ultimately, I would revisit the facial tissue a few years later, adding more extensive narial carilage and prominent nasolabial muscles (and corresponding mystacial pad). This is important to note, as many mammal reconstructions undersell just how much tissue is present, aiding the animals in life

For an assignment to show a “special view” of a natural process and in this case, I wanted to show an implied lifecycle of Leucochloridium variae as it cycles between two hosts: a black-and-white warbler and amber oval snails #gouache #Sciart

One of my favorite landscape photographers is Jan Erik Waider. His borderline abstract aerial photos of geological features & processes are so crisp & otherwordly. Colors & textures that I would never guess were associated w/ rivers, glaciers & the like. Mostly taken in Iceland & Alaska I believe.
