Diana Allan’s PARTITION uses found footage from British & Israeli military-colonial archives that is re-photographed on 16mm with hand processing techniques to make visible the ongoing displacement of Palestinians after the 1948 Nakba.

As part of our programme, Saeed Taji Farouky in collaboration with AK48 has devised The Land of Common Disgrace, a public participatory act resisting the prosecution of pro-Palestine protestors in the UK which combines radical theatre, and documentary.

The festival will conclude with Maxime Jean-Baptiste’s debut feature KOUTÉ VWA (LISTEN TO THE VOICES), a richly layered portrait of a teenage boy in French Guiana and of the territory itself.

Presented in collaboration with Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival and World Records Journal.

We’re delighted to announce the Opening and Closing Night films for our 15th edition!

Open City 2025 will open with Maeve Brennan’s SITICULOSA which will screen with AN EXCAVATION (2022) with the films part of Brennan’s ongoing careful study into the international traffic of looted antiquities.
