This is why being vegetarian isn't enough. I was vegetarian for nearly 40 years before I put 2 + 2 together and realized that the dairy industry is the meat industry.

The laying hen industry needs a constant supply of hens, so all the male chicks that hatch are unwanted and they're either dropped alive into a grinder, or gassed to death.
