This is great -- thanks for your efforts and the documentation. We've got it up and running for tERK stains. Some kinks for us work out but running registrations in a few seconds is so very satisfying!

Indeed, we think it could be!

Surprisingly (at least to us!), we observed that some mutants actually habituate a bit more than their sibling controls when exposed to estradiol. So, we think these receptors do influence habituation—but they weakly suppress it, rather than promote it.

To test this we used mutants generated by @danielgorelick.bsky.social ‘s lab. Disappointingly, we found that none of the receptors were necessary. We spent the next few years combining mutants to test for redundancy, but we concluded that none of these receptors promote habituation.

This follows up on a hit from our drug screen showing that estradiol increases habituation: doi.org/10.7554/eLif... . We expected this effect would be mediated by one of the known estrogen receptors—ERα, ERβ, or the G protein-coupled receptor Gper1.
Functional and pharmacological analyses of visual habituation learning in larval zebrafish
Complex and distributed plasticity processes are revealed by a functional and pharmacological analysis of visual habituation learning in larval zebrafish.
