Hi! I am a Missourian. My greatest hits include “Queer and BIPOC folks live in rural America” “stop trading solidarity for ideological purity” “love your neighbor, yeah that jackass” and “beauty is everywhere, just like pain.”

This argument lives rent free in my head.

Our coworkers stopped us from coming to blows but boy howdy it was RIGHT THERE

I was unreasonably furious at him being both ignorant and weirdly snobby about it.

For context, he’s from Texas and pronounces that as white as white. I said, “great! I look forward to you correcting all of our pronunciation on Native American received place names if this is the hill you die on…” and, weirdly, he did not insist on that.

Oh my god. The argument I got into with a coworker about the pronunciation of Versailles Missouri. (vuhr-SAYLES). He insisted on pronouncing it like the French city because “just because you all cannot say it correctly doesn’t mean I have to. Pronunciation doesn’t change with location.”

Three great tastes that taste great together! What contemporary Southern horror are you reading this Spooky Season? I always prefer a Kentucky author myself 😉

Morels. That’s what I will eat.

A friend caught this image of @canonmak.bsky.social blessing Morticia. “Lord make me an instrument of your peace.” ⚓️
A person kneels beside a cat carrier outdoors. A priest in jeans beside them leans over the cat carrier also. Both have fingers interwoven into the carrier to touch the animal.

Yeah. More a reference to the behavior of cats. Lol

… I see where you are trying to go, but that is REALLY not the problem. In my region, multi year record drought, exacerbated by climate change coupled with horrific international trade policies which have precluded trade with our most reliable global partners led to the crash of soybean production.

Morticia just got blessed at the St. Francis Day Blessing of the Animals and did not in fact disappear into a cloud of grey, sulfurous smoke! (For anyone running an over/under, she didn’t even hiss when sprinkled with holy water. So.) ⚓️
A green-eyed black cat lies on wooden stairs. The cat is wearing a silver saints medal prominently from its collar. A green-eyed black cat sits perched in front of a window in a shelf in front of books and a vining plant. The cat looks prim.

Fun facts, bishops also do this when consecrated.

Kind words, huh @canonmak.bsky.social ?

"In an age that craves certainty and tribalism, Anglicanism offers something quieter and stronger shaped by prayer and lit from within by the glory of Christ. That is what gives me hope."

Also, I think you misunderstood me. But that really doesn’t matter. I hate that you’re hurting.

I am not interested in arguing either. Nobody wins a fight.

Being a faithful Christian, in this context, is not about gatekeeping our doors and protecting them from infidels. Perhaps, it’s about extending genuine welcome to the neighbors of that place, whoever they are. Cannot say if this was that. But that’s where I believe the Jesus focus is.
ozarkmisfit.bsky.social
That is to say… wisdom exists outside of scripture too. Was the use of another faith’s holy writings done respectfully, responsibly, and contextually? I can’t say.

… Jesus revealed himself to the Samaritan woman at the well. Samaritan theology and Jewish theology did not play nicely. Jesus showed up there. I think he can show up here too.

Also… I honor our scriptures. But I don’t worship them. They hold everything necessary for salvation. But not everything.

Know what is NEITHER a war crime nor an earnest mistake? Being a trans service member.

Empowering people thru LLMs is a lie. Duplicative labor always dumbs people down. Are there rare use cases for AI? Yes. But duplicating human labor lessens human effort and destroys human capacities.

Amazing! My congregation worships a few times a year with our town's ELCA congregation (who shares our priest as their pastor), but occasionally, and today was such an occasion, we worship ALSO with the Free Will Baptist congregation, our small town's oldest Black church. Powerful experience.

I love that you add that this is a "botanical" statement. Because honestly... they are vegetables too. Because "fruit" has a strict botanical definition. Vegetables, on the other hand are sort of all vibes.
