Incorrigible loafer (mainly rye).
Philip K Dick has a consistent theme of the breakdown of meaning in his books. "Kipple" in Blade Runner, "Gubbish" in martian time slip, and many others. I feel like LLMs and the dead, bot driven are the crystallization of those ideas.

Soft? Maybe in Brisbane. In NSW, there's plenty of examples of hard corruption mostly through property developers. The smaller the council, the less capability, scrutiny and integrity, it sometimes feels like.

The fact that the greatest concern about so-called changes resoundingly comes from the communities with the *lowest* diversity, the *lowest* exposure to change, the *lowest* proportion of migrants really puts this argument to rest.

To be honest the light is a bit too high hence the shell blowing out a bit, but if it had been further forward, it would have lit the sand in front of the crab up, so you do the best you can. Underwater photography is so much about compromise lol

The might of the snoot! Very narrow beam of light coming out of the strobe. You're correct that it's the size of the claw, they are somewhat like fiddler crabs in this regard.

Great lighting on this one

They pluck them off, anemones are more mobile then you might suppose!

It was so cool I followed it for about forty minutes!

Honestly I was most impressed I managed to hold the camera steady! The depth of field on the macro lens is so narrow it's impossible to tell if you've got the focus when you're down there!

Here's a mind-blower for you. Gambling here in Singapore is completely banned to locals outside the lotto. Forget about ads, you simply cannot bet on anything - and it's wonderful. And society and sports have, somehow, managed to survive.

I will always admire Merkel for this. When hundreds of thousands of Syrian folks were fleeing the country, she - conservative in many ways, neoliberal - said simply: "We can, therefore we must." An act of political courage and humanity that doesn't get the recognition it deserves.

Barnaby swaying like an unsecured metronome there.

Certainly not worth two thirds of the price of the entire office stack, which is how much an enterprise license costs. Simply outrageous.

Pop OS for me. I was actually blown away by how much easier it's gotten in the 15ish years since I last used linux. No more bash scripts in terminal to get a printer to work!
November 20, 2025 at 6:32 AM
I can't remember if I mentioned this. I uninstalled everything microsoft and went back to Linux in a fit of pique when they attempted to charge me 40% more for Office cause Copilot and pretended there was no other option. Linux has gotten a lot easier in the last twenty years, I must say.

"Reporting" = saying any crazy bullshit that dribbles out of a politician's mouth without qualification. In fact, the crazier the better.

This is what happens when journalists lack any domain expertise or the interest in acquiring some.

If only this compassion had sprung forth when she was fuelling death threats and attacks against Pelosi and her husband, Ilhan Omar, AOC and a host of others. No empathy; only cares when it directly affects here.

The other thing is that the media and body politics has been utterly, disgustingly incapable of any acknowledgement or investigation in how destabilising fascist discourse is being fertilised by malicious actors and and literally millions of bots.

"Tearing Britain apart" - it's only happening because they have accepted the deranged terms of debate from nascent fascists and their pets in the media. So frustrating.

In addition Hastie himself is a poor mascot; his religious extremism (won't answer if he believes in a 'young earth' and fake dinosaurs put there by God) is at stark odds with a plurality of Australians. I don't believe he would withstand a full election campaign.

She is an amazing writer, imho. And her comedic ability is under rated. The Mill On The Floss is such a wonderful character portrait. I actually found it a very affirming book.

There's also something prurient about it with the memes, like "oh tee hee, a man, having sex with a man! How outre!"

I don't care how homophobic trump is, it sucks and it's just amplifying, not undermining the bigotry.
