And he was right! You know what's great about a kid who can read by themselves? They can entertain themselves for a bit! And people watching newborns LOVE kids who can entertain themselves! 🤣

Yes! I think the books most likely to be "boring" are levelled readers because they're short, repetitive, trying to use specific words. After that, it's all about plot and characters! I'm not generally "bored" by a book's vocab or sentence structure. And I don't think kids are too judgy about prose.

Yeah, I honestly spent a minute trying to figure out what was different about it at all!

I also dislike when "exclusive covers" are just color changes to the original colors because you can often tell the color combos they went with for the "actual" cover were the GOOD color choices. That's why they picked them, right?? So sometimes the "exclusive" editions look bad!

There's also a B&N edition where the title is, gasp!, red! To be fair, the B&N also has an "annotated chapter," so at least that's a little extra content.

And I think they all have different color endpapers. But, again, why would I buy a book because the endpapers are red instead of blue?

I just don't get the point. I'm not going to buy more than one edition if they look 99% the same. And I'm not going to think, "Oh I need to buy the edition at X store," if it's NOT TAHT DIFFERENT, so the stores with these "exclusive editions" aren't getting increased business for carrying them.

I also quit because everyone was just angry all the time over there, and then I was angry all the time reading all the nonsense being posted!

I see this debate pop up places once in a while, and I am confused. I think very few people return the exact same book to the same little free library. They take it, bring a different one, put it in a different little free library, whatever. This seems normal to me.

How have we gotten to a place we where just accept that this is obviously "just what happens"?

Also applies questions like, "Why is this woman bringing her older child to baby story time at the library?" Because she has more than one kid.
