Oh yeah no I have no doubts at all they're fucking with us; IIRC they've been infiltrated by hypocritical right-wing crypto-fascist "prudes" for years if not decades, or even created by them outright (ex. PayPal by Thiel, whose cronies likely influenced its policies long after he'd sold to EBay).

So damn weird, video games (especially Steam) and tabletop games are pretty much my biggest nonessential expenditures, and they're almost always online credit card purchases, but for some reason they've never been flagged as potential scams. Maybe because I'm Canadian? Honest question.

Eh, I don't blame you, it's depressing stuff. But yeah as I said before 100% agree we Canucks have it better than the US in several categories, including mass shootings (especially in schools and colleges).

...Pretty sure the Polytechnique (14 dead) and Concordia (4 dead) massacres count as mass shootings. Happened relatively close to me (I live in the Montreal suburbs).
But otherwise yes, very much rarer than similar US events.

Fame is a hell of a drug... That said, another case study is Andrew Wakefield, he who started the whole "vaccines cause autism" thing. It's almost a tragic farce, though Wakefield deserves zero sympathy. I reccommend hbomberguy's YouTube video, "Vaccines: A Measured Response".
