TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

I just checked my AO3 profile and apparently I joined Nov 13, 2009, god that makes me feel old.

So, what little I do around podfic fandom these days is answer podfic questions on reddit and I came across a post today where HP recs were suggested and the comments were how to use TTS to listen to any story, rec of a TTS creator, and 1 podficcer rec and one self rec. Very sad.

So, I had a headache yesterday and I probably should have gone home, but thanks to The Year of Constant Migraine I hold myself to a stupidly high level of pain before it's ok to say a headache is "bad".

So, somehow on Sunday I managed to loose my car keys IN MY CAR. I know they're in the car because I can still drive the car and the doors don't auto-lock. But can I find them? No! There aren't even that many places they could be. I don't understand how this happened.

Update: apparently the whole phone went in the toilet and the card wasn't actually flushed, it was just the only thing that didn't work once dried.
Today's WTF story from the IT desk: user just called to say he flushed his work phone's SIM card down the toilet.
I didn't even ask, it seemed like cursed knowledge.

We accepted the deal! No striking for me. :D
My union had a vote yesterday on whether or not to accept a new offer and if we don't, we're going on strike. They were supposed to start counting the ballots at 9 and I am soooo impatient to know the results! (I really don't want to go on strike)

I'm listening to an American podcast and at one point one of the host says "three west coast states, the only west coast states" (the aside as a sort of self correction) but it has me wondering (as a non-American), does Alaska not count?
