And it's THREE YEARS after the disastrous deal from Alex Acosta. They are discussing their personal knowledge in context where they think they are immune from further prosecution. This isn't an "allegation"; this is an admission by co-conspirators.
Devin, I don't think many non-lawyers understand just how "yeah, that underlying fact's 100% true" it is when you have a private email between two parties with no reason to lie discussing the implications of something they agree is a fact they both have personal knowledge of.

Is Schumer still the minority leader? Is Durbin still the whip? Is Cortes-Masto still a vice chair? Good Democrats -- rank and file, those committed to restoring party --must tell Act Blue and every candidate with hands out for the coming midterms -- that there's no cash coming without new leaders.

If you are a Democrat in the Tennessee 7th, you have a chance to do something incredible starting tomorrow as to the special election on December 2nd

The Republican Party appears to be collapsing there, perhaps in part because it is trying to starve everyone
Turnout was down 75% in Middle TN U.S. House special election, particularly in GOP strongholds • Tennessee Lookout
Turnout in the special election primary for Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District race was down compared to the 2024 General Election.

many such cases

Kash Patel in his book: "All their attacks only convinced me that we were on to something big. Who knows, maybe if they didn't attack me so hard I wouldn't have had such certainty about [Russia Gate] or pursued it so fervently."
Seems clear that Pulte 1) broke the law while going on fishing expeditions for baseless mortgage fraud claims 2) immediately removed everyone who tried to investigate that wrong-doing.

How can the Dems legitimately claim to be anti-corruption if no Democrat can adequately explain wtf just happened?
Either didn't control them, or did control them and just tried to save face by having retiring/non-election year Dems vote for it.

It's not like he's calling them out, so what's he leading?

Right before finding out which way SCOTUS comes down on the question of starving millions of children? That's the worst, stupidest time to cave. It's really weird that Dem Senators are posting pretending like they don't know that.

Kash Patel's book, Government Gangsters (2023), is here. It begins with an official albeit somewhat ominous letter from the DoD regarding a security review done on the manuscript, so you immediately know you're in for some heavy shit.

Please don your tinfoil hats before reading my thoughts: 🧵

every time a state reaches a certain pop, it must undergo mitosis
you actually have to end the American republic to end the senate. it is literally the only institution which is explicitly impossible to reform even by amendment

you can however create as many states as you like
Part of me thinks “yeah, primary every last one of these fuckers!!!”

And the other part of me thinks “eh, fuck it. We’re gonna need wholesale constitutional reform anyway. Just abolish the damn Senate.”

Anecdote: my dad was glad the shutdown might be ending, being a retired govt employee himself and a Texas democrat. Called it a pointless shutdown. But he was also genuinely bemoaning the destruction in Gaza and how US weapons were used, in the same conversation.

There’s two Senate Dem problems imo:

1. Leadership out of touch
2. Not enough progressives; too many centrists

So they feel like a party of never-Trumpers rather than a true Democratic party, aka controlled opposition that underrepresents the base

Hot take but if I had to pick a Senator as leader from what I saw last couple weeks, I’d pick Senator Ben Ray Lujan.

Seeing him go at it with Thune felt right. And considering all the shit with immigration rn, having a gen-x Mexican-American as leader would help counter all this right-wing racism

The Congressional Progressive Caucus has 94 seats in the House.

They have 1 seat in the Senate (Sanders. Not even Warren? lol). So the mismatch is real.

tbf no one liked schumer before. The most we liked him was:

a.) two days ago when he lost a vote.
b.) when he finally started posting tiktok-style videos and cussing

And even then he was at like 20% approval

But who best to replace? He’s more progressive than he appears. His prob is out of touch.

Sen Cassidy (R-LA) made a pretty persuasive-sounding speech about FSA's being better than the ACA subsidies, but was trying to thread the needle between "empowering the consumer" and "health insurance companies are good, too"
November 9, 2025 at 11:29 PM
I don't think enough people realize how that was nearly a coup and not "just a riot." Trump physically assaulted his own Secret Service Agent driver to try to get him to drive them to the Capitol. CIA director Gina Haspel said after SecDef Esper's firing that "we are on the way to a right-wing coup"
In retrospect maybe it wasn't the best idea to put an insurrectionist who tried to murder everyone in Congress in charge.

I bought Kash Patel's memoir so I can Hunter S Thompson this shit.

To cancel out the clearly deleterious consequences of receiving such a tome, I also purchased "Black against Empire" on the Black Panther Party.

I was curious if Kash Patel even had any law enforcement experience, considering how he often looks like a dunce grifter. I opened up his Wikpedia article, and holy shit I was not prepared for what I found 🧵 buckle up:

I do think senate republicans believe they're untouchable and can facetank the ACA crisis they created without really changing much and boy that is a gamble
Republicans waged a relentless, decades-long campaign to privatize Medicare and Medicaid

They fought even mild efforts to expand public insurance

Now they are objecting to extending extra ACA subsidies, supposedly because money flows to private insurers

We are supposed to take this seriously?
November 8, 2025 at 9:55 PM
Ron Johnson made arguments against Obamacare. He doesn't want to renew subsidies for those above 400% of poverty line because he claimed Obamacare created a non-competitive market for health insurance, which caused premiums to increase.

proud of myself for enduring Sen. Cruz's entire speech. The R's response is this Shutdown Fairness Act which pays federal workers (including furloughed as part of a compromise to Dems) during the shutdown.
