Nope. It isn’t an increase in people leaving, although that has gone up slightly. It is a decrease in incoming migrants. Which is a pity as the OBR estimates each 100,000 decrease costs the public finances £7 billion

My understanding was that we would estimate our yearly mileage then any discrepancies would be rectified at MOT. Which is almost what you say.

The budget was an excercise in accountancy. Or book keeping to be precise. Keeping the country's finances in good order is a good thing but we expect more.

I agree but I'd still like to see more detail. This feels like a cheap shot to me which I don't expect from byline times.
