Creator and showrunner of Station Eleven and Maniac. I used to write books, but then for tv, and now would like to busk more and am writing a new book. Wisconsin-blooded, Chicago-baked.
Pinned
I spent some time looking back through this hauntingly beautiful light test photos of the Station Eleven apartment, where, in Toronto, you could look out and see the skyscrapers of Chicago, and time travel to before.

Make sure your scripts are organized into .json datasets. Maybe throw a showrunnerInstruction.md file in, too. We’re cooked. (Not cooked.)

Idk.

I look forward to watching the show with my executives to “pressure test” the pre-viz.

Am I going crazy? The other day I saw a hip-hop deep fake video with Zuck and Musk and Trump all working in a factory at night and I cannot find it anywhere.

Adverbs are like heroin for AI.

We can’t just keep having interventions, man. You can do this.

Is this the part where consumer goods just go up by 10 or 15% across the board because of the tariffs, and when the tariffs are gone, they don’t go back down?

You know you built some good shit when you have to ask copilot if he’s hallucinating and he is like, no.

Feige trolling MAGA and courting the 2029 Box Office is my return to normalcy.

Feels pretty “I just thought of this in the bathtub” to go with 25% exactly as your tariff.

I wrote this a few days before DeepSeek showed up, and it feels like reality shifted a little. But still. Daddy’s coming. Whichever one it is.

But any AI that’s bad at the truth will be bad at math and science, and AI bad at math and science is worth zilch. It would be nice if that tension ripped apart the computer systems that are currently being built to preserve the billionaire class. But I’m not assuming it’ll be that easy.

If you’ve been amused imagining a radically right troll struggling to circumnavigate Claude’s insistence on universal human rights, it may suddenly be not funny, at all, when we realize Elon Musk is in the game in order to create an LLM with an authoritarian right wing ideology cooked into it.

I’m doing my very best to hold that in one hand, and a sober acknowledgment on global inequality in the other. You don’t have to be evangelical about AI to know that it’s about to do something. The cost of goods and services going down precipitously could mean a fascist world or a free world.

Though the world is unrecognizable compared to what it was 100 years ago, or 200 years ago, or 1000 years ago, there’s never been a subjective perspective where a person could watch that happen. I really think it’s going to be unrecognizable in one year. These things have never happened.

Post this behind a secret panel in your home for the next ten years.
It seems we are already losing sight of the fact that a handful of billionaires effectively turned our information ecosystem into a Superfund site, no one knows how to clean up the mess, and simply telling the truth and hoping people find it is woefully insufficient

Also without them, the world would be a barren wasteland of ash and rusty golf clubs.
LGBTQ voters went 86% for Harris. Attacking them, and especially trans people as the reason for losing the election is electoral suicide. They make up 7% of voters. Without them, every single democratic senator that won would've lost.

Should have gone with the kleroterion.
I am feeling one year away from madness, with the election. Coincidentally, I’ve been reading about this thing called a kleroterian, the bingo/plinko machine ancient Athenians built in order to randomly select the political offices of the city every year.

We shot this the third day of Maniac, and between takes Emma told me the “co” in my “co-showrunner” meant that I was Mom.

I had so much media I loved dappled on twitter/x over the years. I don’t why it feels good to me for those things to exist not just on my phone, but as my kid plays soccer I’m gonna just make a museum of digital things I love. For example, this boomerang that captures the souls of my son and father.
