The insurance companies have already won. Now that open enrollment in the ACA has started, people are forced to make a choice: pay the jacked up premium, choose a worse plan, or go without health insurance. The last two choices for many people will lead to massive healthcare debt and bankruptcy.

Our healthcare system is burdened by the unrestrained profit motive of insurance companies. We need Medicare for all. Republicans have put a dagger in the heart of the ACA, have taken money out of Medicare, and are set to kill Medicaid. Private equity firms are now buying healthcare companies.

James Madison worried about a standing army because it could be used to takeover our government. We have seen that happen many times in other countries. Trump and Hegseth are removing leaders who they believe may resist illegal orders, especially if they are not white males.

The Republicans gave insurance companies a massive gift. ACA enrollment has started. The choices now are: pay the jacked up premium, switch to a plan with worse coverage, or drop coverage. The last two options will force you into bankruptcy if you get a serious illness or injury.

We have always been a minority rule country. Initially mostly only white male property owners could vote, senators were chosen by state legislators, and the electoral college chose the President and Vice President. Even now billionaires control everything. We need majority rule.

A 50 year mortgage slows the growth of equity and makes you pay an enormous amount of interest over time. Because the average age of a first time home buyer in the U.S. is 40, most people will never pay off the loan. What we need is affordable housing and not gimmicks that enrich bank CEOs.

According to Oxfam the top 1% of the U.S. has 987 times more wealth than the bottom 20%. The top 1% got a big tax cut and they weren’t paying their fair share of taxes before that. At the same time millions are losing health insurance or paying much more for it, and SNAP may be going away.
