"a deliberate deception to wage war on President Trump and the millions of Americans who elected him to multiple terms."

there are four lifetime judges pending on the Senate floor — all to North Carolina district courts: David Bragdon (M.D.N.C.), Lindsey Freeman (M.D.N.C.), Matthew Orso (W.D.N.C.), and Susan Courtwright Rodriguez (W.D.N.C.).

Rodriguez will be first woman ever to serve as lifetime judge on that court.

this is very interesting. Senator @hirono.senate.gov confronted nominee William Crain of Louisiana about his past campaign statement that he's “pro-life,” “pro-second amendment,” and “pro-death penalty.”

Then she asked: Are you also pro-civil rights?

He said "Yes." 🤔

During Tung's hearing, he refused to respond to Sen. @booker.senate.gov's questions about whether he agreed with Mike Davis' statement that Democrats are “relentless and evil” (but then answered Sen. Kennedy).

This led Sen. Coons to ask him in writing: "Do you believe that Democrats are evil?"

OKAY, go Senator @blumenthal.senate.gov!

incredible diversity today in the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing room.

WOW. in response to @booker.senate.gov, 9th Circuit nominee Eric Tung repeatedly refuses to say Democrats aren't evil

BOOKER: Do you think that today's Democrats are relentless and evil?

TUNG: You're asking me to comment on a political question...I cannot & should not speculate or comment on that.

love to see Senator @padilla.senate.gov confronting 9th Circuit nominee Eric Tung (nominated to a California seat) with this photo of him.

HAPPENING NOW: Senate Dems are speaking on the floor about Trump's judicial nominees. @blumenthal.senate.gov says they're discussing one of the most important decisions they're going to make with respect to the future of justice in America — the nomination of Emil Bove to serve on the Third Circuit.

This is the person charged with enforcing the nation's federal civil rights laws.
July 23, 2025 at 7:25 PM
SCHUMER: "Mr. Bove’s nomination previews the dark, ominous plan that Donald Trump and Republicans have for the federal judiciary. They want to fill our courts with partisan operatives who will protect and serve Donald Trump, not protect the rule of law. Experience doesn’t matter."

Thank you, Senator Booker.

Today is the fifth Bloody Sunday commemoration without civil rights legends Congressman John Lewis, Rev. Joseph Lowery, Rev. C.T. Vivian, and Bruce Boynton, who all passed away in 2020. Remembering and honoring them today.
March 7, 2025 at 4:17 PM
Today marks 60 years since Bloody Sunday in Selma, Alabama — the images of which horrified the nation and inspired passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 months later. We still need Congress to pass the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to fully restore this landmark law.

Grateful to @padilla.senate.gov for discussing civil & human rights issues in stating clearly his opposition to Bondi. Calls out lies about election & threats they pose to democracy, in addition to her terrible birthright citizenship response. "We need & deserve an AG who will speak truth to power."

HAPPENING NOW: Senate Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Durbin & Judiciary Dems are speaking out in opposition to Pam Bondi's nomination to serve as U.S. attorney general. Nation's civil rights community is united in its opposition to this anti-civil rights nominee. civilrights.org/resource/opp...
