Coaching 10-year-old basketball after a week of snow days is a great way to forget all that other noise for a little while. A full hour of constructive positivity, mostly at the top of my lungs. Highly recommended.

Having watched with growing alarm the developments of the last 24 and 36 hours in Washington, I thought I’d take a stab at how the US media would cover this story if it was happening in a foreign country. Here’s that story that should be written this weekend: www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/musk-s-jun...
Musk's Junta Establishes Him as Head of Government
Imagining how we'd cover overseas what's happening to the U.S. right now

1/ It's true that the DCA crash wasn't the direct and sole result of the last ten days of misrule. But that truth is irrelevant in the face of a larger one: things will only get worse if Dem leadership doesn't raise hell at every opportunity.

Hammer this, Dems!

FACT: Aaron Rodgers, a dumbass jock who knows fuck all about science and medicine and uses the media to spew dangerous conspiracy theories about vaccines to gullible fans who listen to him because he used to be able to throw a football, sucks.

one of my iron clad beliefs is that there are very few actual “schemes” in the world. instead, there are just a lot of stupid, venal people and quite a few of them hold positions of real power and authority
"Corporate leadership is as stupid as everyone else and freaked out about viral shoplifting videos" isn't as exciting as "the pharmacies are doing fascist performance art so they can uh murder all poor people" but sometimes things really are just stupid

What Trumpism did was provide a way for deeply unhappy people to spend their time instead of doing anything to change their circumstances

It's like meth in the form of a so-called "political movement"

Some brief kicks, but your teeth will probably fall out because the DHHS Secretary hates fluoride

A coup in Damascus. Massive protests in Tblisi and a growing wave of resignations from Georgia's pro-Putin faction. This is who we sold our country to? A VC firm that declared bankruptcy while the ink was still wet on the term sheet? I want to believe that nothing could be Trumpier, but....

Am I just a jerk, or would that have been the right time to go for two? Make it, and you're a TD+two-pointer behind. Miss it, and you're ten points behind instead of nine. The only difference is playing for a tie instead of a lead with a TD+FG.

All right--who was in charge of keeping the brandy away from Aunt Millie? And was that same person in charge of keeping the challenge flag away from Uncle Matt? Step it up!

Bumped into a former shop steward at a UAW plant the other day. Said he started among workers who were proud of their jobs and ended representing people who were lucky to have jobs at all. "Some of them aren't stupid, but they're all scared and shortsighted." First DNC chair to understand that wins.

I joined Twitter in early 2007. Kicked around and checked in with a tech-savvy former colleague. "It's stupid--not enough space to write much of anything. Everyone's going to love it, but I hate it." And that was the sum total of my contribution to Twitter.

So...how's this all go again?
